Get a load of this Porsche Dealer's business card

I stopped by the local dealer today, I wanted to have a look at the GT4 Clubsport and had a chat with a salesman about my interest in a 997 gen Turbo. After discussing some recent sales, he gave me his card and said he would look around.

I looked down at the card and POSRCHE jumped out at me! I showed him and the salesman was horrified. He hadnt noticed before. He went right over to his desk and dumped the others out, and I watched him go to the front desk and tell the receptionist t order some new ones.

The guy was genuinely embarassed so I dont want to rub it in, so I whited out his name and phone. I still thought it was funny...

In our company the recipient of the business card has to check and sign the proof before cards can be ordered. Whether that was him or the receptionist someone would have their name against the "approved" proof.

Lol. My business just sent out a save the date postcard for an upcoming event....I usually proof them but I was busy and did not connect w/ my marketing coordinator before they went out. Turns out my business name was misspelled on it. Embarrassing.

Not putting miles on your car is like not having sex with your girlfriend, so she'll be more desirable to her next boyfriend.

Years ago I was asked to brief the Head of the Navy International Program Office (NAVIPO) which was headed by a two star admiral.

He was pretty insistent that I brief him on a specific day, even though I would be returning from a foreign military sales (FMS) trip to Spain about an hour before the meeting. My head of FMS said he would get the brief put together, no worries. Pretty standard stuff.

I get to the meeting place about ten minutes prior to show time. I quickly run through the brief, looks good.

I do not notice, however, the we had misspelled the Admirals name - which, due to the fact that it was a bit of an odd spelling, was a pet peeve of his.

A paper copy of the brief is on the table in front of him. I am standing in front of the screen that the brief is being projected onto.

He enters, we snap off the old "attention on deck!" and he sits down.

First words out of his mouth, "You misspelled my name, Captain."

Without another word, he gets up and walks out.

Now if they would just get CoAs correct without typos, etc.

It was awkward. The room was full of his staff, btw, probably 25 people, lots of folks looking at anything or anyone but me.

The first person I called was my boss, another two star. Maybe five minutes had elapsed between me packing my trash and getting to my car and making the call.

The first words out of his mouth were, "I know..." Long pause.

Then he laughed, told me to relax and get ready for another swing. Great boss.

It happens. We publish a lot of stuff and are diligent about spelling, but some things slip through. We once ran an ad that said, "Free T-s*it with order!"

This reminds me the wedding coordinator misspelled my wife's Maiden name on all her side of the family's namecards for the wedding tables...I ran around and removed them all. It was better letting people sit where they want anyway.
