Another cool little machine
This is a Carpenter "Swing Blade" that uses a quickly rotating blade to cut and strip insulation.
The wire I'm stripping here has an outer braided shield of tin plated copper. It's a real PITA to deal with... you either have to push the inner black core through and cut off one end, then slide it back, or de-braid and cut with scissors. Super PITA, either way. These run about $1100 new, or around $4-500 on Fleabay. Picked it up for abut $150. It was missing it's upper shield.. so we made one out of a plastic coke bottle. ![]() With the automatic cutter/stripper cutting and then using this to strip, we could probably do several hundred of these in a day, instead of several dozen. Pretty sure the cutter/stripper won't handle this insulation.
