Man, you are so lucky! I hope you will completely recover and that kind of thing won't occur again. Good luck!

Glad you are getting better and that the heart attack was not fatal! I had one in May of last year but it was during a stress test and that is a really helpless feeling and there is really nothing you can do about it if it is away from the medical folks. Fortunately for me mine was in the ultrasound room and I went through the longest 10 minutes of my life! You mentioned a completely blocked artery so I have to ask, how are the others and was a close inspection of them done while the stent was put in? I would surely hope so and how bad are they as far as flow of blood? In my case all were 75 to 80% blocked so I had quad bypass as the surgeon said the stents would not last me very long as it seems they get filled up and the the artery plugs again?

You are very right in saying the people in the heart center are great and mine sure were. At the UCSD heart center and most other hospitals in So Cal they all the staff from nurses to the surgeon are very specialized and really know their jobs! Oh yeah did they run that big tube in through your wrist or up through your thigh? I know when they pulled mine out it was one of the weirdest feelings I have ever had........

Back again

Going to try to answer all your questions without using quotes, and in order. Here goes. First off, thanks everyone for looking.

Yeah 15 mins and good to go, with time off for the xmas weekend chore duty.
I am 68 yrs and like everyone else going on 22.

Yes 2 1\2 hrs and hit every f...ing pot hole in New Brunswick! Didn't watch as they
stented me but could have as I was completely NOT knocked out. To Old E, it's either Saint John or Halifax, only choices. Saint John is a few minutes quicker.

Not going to get my crate engine as I'm not allowed to lift anything heavy.

I was only in Saint John for 2 days and was home in my own bed Sat night, but thanks for the offer, notfarnow. To "evans, Marv" I feel totally recovered now, but not according to my wife who wont let me do anything, especially if it's fun!
Thanks one and all and best wishes for a happy Christmas! I'm going to post a pic of the huge scar where they sent the stent. It's that tiny dot to the right wrist that looks like a freckle, (that other vertical white scar is a different story, never mind)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1450724062.jpg

I think understated is what O Haha meant to say. And yes what a perspective you have managed to put this all into.
I love the positivity, and even more that you are here, able to share that positivity with us.

My brother had to go in to get similar work done about ten days ago too.
He just didn't get the long ambulance ride.

Do take good care of yourself Yellow, you are our main window into the world of DIY

Happy but relaxed Holidays to you.

Not for the faint of heart to lie there and see your own heart pumping and watch that wire working its way up...hunting and poking.
.
Good to hear your spirit.

I have some others that are 60-80 % but the specialist said he can control them with meds, (my vitals are good and my cholesterol 's good also.) My wife who is a doc also but not a specialist asked if he could've done more stents?, but he said it would possibly do more damage than good. I asked if he had only one vein to open, please make it the one that goes to the playground!

Whooooo, pleased to have you in the land of the living. Close call.

I don't want to sound like your mother but you may need to talk to a nutritionist/fitness/heath person.

Thanks guys!

Now, since I'm taking it easy, my wife and I have been watching, on Netflix, a series
that I think is the best TV I've ever watched. It's called "Bloodline" about a dysfunctional family located in the Florida Keys who own and operate an inn on I think, Marathon or maybe Key Largo. It's really good. Location is great, story is really good and believable. Worth a look.

Get well soon.

John Rogers 12-21-2015 06:39 PM

I was interested in your other arteries and since you said they are somewhat plugged up I am not surprised. When I went in to get checked to see if stents could be used, the nurse in charge said that when I wake up which happens in the OR, if I have to stay a couple days then stents went in. If the surgeon says I can go home as soon as the tube comes out and I feel okay........no stents can be used. Guess what he said and after a couple hours the surgeon came in and said I had 4 choices: Do nothing and I would probably die from the heart attack, second try medicines but the research at UCSD Sulpezio Center showed they were not very effective, third put in stents but the "stent surgeon" already shot that down due to all arteries being plugged and last of all a quad bypass which fixes me up for the rest of my life as I am over 70 now. So I chose the last and I am glad I did. As you have found you can not do much for a while and in my case it was 5 months before I could do any muzzle loader shooting again due to the shock. I also had to wear a remote heart monitor for 2 months that called in to the heart center every couple hours to tell them how my heart was doing.

I hope the meds work for you and can get things cleaned out properly so you don't have to go through it again as it is a pain!!!

Don Ro 12-21-2015 07:21 PM

john rogers,
.
Amazing, wasn't it, how weak you were after your quad.
I didn't even try to get out of bed for a day or two at home...two days in hospital.
Took me 4 days before I could walk down the street (less than 50 yards) with a stroller.
Incredible shock at how fragile one feels after such a procedure.
.
I had no real pain except when I coughed. Took a couple of Oxycodine the first day...then no more...made me nauseous.
Also, I was told that longevity depended upon the condition of the veins they took out of my legs...mine weren't the best, so they said.
Had my quad in '11. A zipper down my chest.
.
I asked if they could video the procedure, they said, "You don't want to see that!"
.
Good health to you.

John Rogers 12-22-2015 04:59 AM

Yes, it takes a while for sure and the coughing was a pain....in the chest. The hospital auxiliary ladies make heart shaped pillows that you carry around all the time and squeeze tightly when you start to cough! I was pretty lucky in that I really had no pain except for that weird skin sensation where the nerves get cut when opening you up. They said the vein they pulled out of my leg was real good so I was happy about that.

My main concern about yellowpearl is the use of the meds to get rid of the blockage and I would imagine the heart folks will watch him closely? I get checked every 6 months now and last Friday the specialist said all sounded really great and the stroke specialist said I was pretty much over the mini stroke so I can quit taking that dammed Plavix!

I'm not sure this is what motion was talking about in his "life experiences" philosophy.

Love your perspective, heal up fast!
