Network Locations: Can't connect to FTP

In order to easily upload files to my website, I've always used an FTP connection from Windows Explorer as a mapped network drive. Click the folder, it automatically logs in to my FTP, and shows me the folders and directories of my website.

As of today, it wont work, on two different computers. Complete reboots, modem reboots, router reboots, nothing works.
Was working fine about a week ago.

Here is the error I get.

No credentials or passwords have been changed. Creating a new network location, it won't accept my credentials. Although I can log into the website portal though my host just fine.

Any ideas? This is driving me mad.

try it from the command line

enter cmd in the search/run window or click in the command prompt icon

then type ftp yourftpserver.com, same thing in the windows shortcut

post the error message

You really shouldnt be using ftp, old, insecure tech. Much better to use scp, do you know the webserver operating system?

Use sftp which is built into FileZilla client (Mac and Windows versions available for free). And sftp is better than scp.

Use a real FTP client.

Filezilla is free.

Heck if you have SFTP/SCP you may as well just use sshfs and mount the thing!

I have ~/web-dev, ~/home-server, ~/my-web and a few others that I connect as needed

File sharing is turned off on the network adapter on the host computer.
