I just had all of the above at my family gathering…but nobody shot anybody. Why do people continue to blame society or a "dysfunctional country" for the actions of one idiot. Each individual is responsible for his own actions.

Of course the majority of people don't shoot anyone on Christmas. I hardly ever shoot anyone.

But the numbers don't lie. Americans shoot each other at a rate that is so out of proportion to other western countries that it's impossible to say that nothing is wrong here. And a large percentage of shootings and killings are done between friends or family members that would result in maybe a black eye if everyone didn't have a loaded gun at the ready.

Yes, Christmas certainly brings out the nutters. Our family has enough Sure we don't shoot eachother but I wouldn't completely trust my sister Julie if she got a nice shiny new S&W for Christmas.

Been to a call like the OP's. Bigger, older brother. Smaller younger brother got tired of being beaten by his older brother. Big brother raised his arm to hit his brother. Younger shot him with a .22 in the armpit. Tore the top lobe of the right lung apart. Funeral notice said he had just turned his life around and quit gang life.

I on the other hand never shot anyone yet this holiday season.

It seems to me that in our current society there are a good number of individuals that either seem entitled or just don't give a crap about anyone but themselves. When anything goes wrong they just seem to snap with no logical thought process or concern about their actions. I still believe the majority of people are good but the minority of " bad people " is growing.

These are the same people who will take what they want from you when the SHTF. I'm not a doomsday prepper, but I do have guns to protect my family and home.....never pull them out on the holidaze though.
