Mississippi Councilman Kenneth Stokes Calls to Pelt Cops With Rocks

A Mississippi city councilman fed up with police chasing suspects wanted for minor crimes into his town has made a controversial suggestion: pelt them with rocks, bricks and bottles.

"That will send a message we don't want you in here," Councilman Kenneth Stokes in Jackson told the local NBC affiliate WLBT.

Stokes said officers from surrounding cities put Jackson residents in danger when they pursue people in his ward.

"What I suggest is we get the black leadership together, and as these jurisdictions come into Jackson we throw rocks and bricks and bottles at them," he said on New Year's Eve.

How about cops just don't go there period. Drive the criminals into his jurisdiction and let him deal with them. Politicians are lower than lawyers and used car sales people, present company excluded of course.

This story is local to me. The guy is an idiot and his wife that wears lovely hats is a local Judge. I grew up in Jackson but moved to the suburbs 20 years ago. It is on track to be the next "Detroit".

Boy that's real smart (regardless of legality). Some idiot follower of Mr. Stokes' advice is going to throw rocks/bricks/bottles at someone who's got a gun. How's that going to turn out, Mr. Stokes?

In reality, it's going to turn out like the Dukes of Hazard. Make it to the county line (albeit into Jackson, as opposed to out of Hazard), and the cops will stop pursuing you. Not good for the cops, but even worse for Jacksonians.

No, no, no, no. Absolutely not. The Law enforcement in the adjoining communities will continue pursuit into Jackson. I will guarantee you that. If the hoodrats of Jackson follow through on Stokes suggestions the current line of thought is to arrest him for inciting a riot.

The bottom line is that there is nothing worth stealing in Jackson (with the exception of water and sewer services), the County D.A. is a minority, the judges are minority and they participate in a "catch and release" program. Jackson is 80% minority. Outside the city /county limits to the north and east where the development is booming (read white flight) there is plenty of stuff to steal....but the demographics are reversed.....only 20% minority, with a non-minority D.A. that does NOT play around and non minority judges. It's a cat and mouse game and the cat he is one bad mofo.

What bothers me the most about this situation is Stokes has not budged on his original statement, even though he's been called out on it by the state's governor as well as many many others.

It's one thing to say something stupid and reckless in a moment of passion - quite another to ignore that reckless stupidity.
