Travel the world, ride motorcycles, ride snowmobiles, have 3 old German sports cars, maybe a bunch of old motorcycles to work on. Do some local volunteer work, putt on my tractor......Have a home on acreage with a view of the mountains, and a cabin with a view of the water.....

If I was suddenly super rich as in mega millionaire, I would start a Jay Leno type of collection and hire some top pros to do the work. I would help out and learn, but I have no desire to do the real grunt work.

I am 37. I have been working 6 days a week since I was 13. I do not know what vacation means, so I would travel for a while.

Damn, i really need a break...

For me, I'd put a chunk of money into animal welfare and no-kill shelters, then into Alzheimer's research, and then into Parkinson's research.

I'd spend whatever money and time it took to build my anonymity and not fall prey to the thousands of begging hands that would see me as nothing but a bottomless ATM. Then I'd have some fun.

i'm assuming we are talking about vehicle projects?

3 of them.

clones of a 1969 Z28 with modern drivetrain and AC. this would be my daily driver.
go and kidnap that VonsMog dude and do a restore of a mog.

grease the palms of some government official and get them to let me federalize a modern LandRover Defender for "environmental studies".

if we are not talking about vehicle projects.. is retirement a project? i would travel, learn languages like a mofo..and learn to play the piano.

Yeah, I could see that as getting really old in the first couple of minutes. I could see saying something like "Our family is thinking very hard about which charities we're going to support. please give us the time and space necessary to make good decisions. Repeated and/or aggressive requests will be ignored." This will put off honest strangers and acquaintances. Dishonest folks, family and close friends probably won't see themselves as "charities", and will need additional discussion. "We're not giving any money to anybody right now. We're trying to figure out what this means for us. When we sort it all out, we'll let you know." Folks who keep asking? No soup for you! Folks who still like to hang out with you with no expectation of benefit? Hmmm....

I'd start my own non-profit childhood disease research organization. I have the regulatory background and am familiar with the working vocabulary. I'd sustain the organization by releasing all findings in exchange for ongoing financial support.

or

I'd put alot of struggling dancers through college.

This! Plus add a Formula 1 car! I'm thinking mid to late 90's model. Racing two classes means twice the fun!

I'd also include a Superformance GT40 Mark II, modified to run the new flat-plane GT350 engine for shuttling to/from the tracks. Holy Exhaust Howl through a Bundle of Snakes!!

I suspect some epic post-race parties would also be involved.....

Since we already have the hobby farm, make our own hay for the wife's 3 horses and 2 mini donkeys, it strikes me an indoor arena would be the next project.
However, unlike every other structure on the place, I would not build it.
Then I think she would like a vacation house in the south of France. I know just the spot.

Wait! Don't you have to actually buy a ticket to have even an infinitesimal chance of winning a lottery? Thought so.

Yea the chances are a little bitty microscopically tiny little bit better if you waste money and buy a ticket. I learned arithmetic long ago so I see the lottery on the math impaired.

It is fun to play the mental game of what you would do if you won.

You absolutely would never win with that strategy. The only way to keep your relationships intact would be to keep your winnings a secret. I would bet every one of us here has a relative or two who would never stop asking for money. They'd piss it away and come back for more. Refuse to enable their ways and you'd be the enemy. No good can come of it. Treat the money like you earned every dime of it, building a business and not like some cash windfall to be given out like candy. How you got your money or how much you have is NO ONE's business but yours. You may still lose a lot of friends and loved ones, but you'll still have the money.

Projects can encompass charity work, IMO.

We're talking lottery here. After the govt gets their share I would donate half to Children's Hospital before another penny is spent. The remainder goes into a fund.

I have a simple, but nice, home. In a simple, but desirable area in SoCal. I am getting older, 53 right now, and don't need lots of stuff. I crave travel and freedom. That is what I would purchase. And a Singer Porsche.
