My wife bought me a GoPro for Christmas

What am I going to do with it?
My life is too boring to make a movie of it. I don't sky dive, skuba dive, crash through the woods on a mountain bike, or go lane splitting on a motorcycle.
The only ideas I've come up with are:

Mount it on my helmet at DE events. How? Is it even legal at PCS events?

Use the forehead mount when I'm taking a project apart to help me figure out how to put the schitt back together again. (I kinda like this one)

Maybe a dash cam for daily driving? Seems like a lot of trouble.

Does anyone else have one of these that you put to use while doing something that's not likely to kill you?

Dude, how long have you been married? If you don't do any action sports, maybe your wife is hinting st something. Get wild

Here's how I would put it to use....made this video with my ELPH...but would have used a GoPro if I had one.

I strap mine to the car at DE events. In-car, looking over my shoulder, so I can look at my movements on the steering wheel and my overall composure. Left and right fender, right beneath the rear view mirror, to see how close I'm getting to the edge of the track (hint: not very). It doesn't necessarily make for super-awesome share-with-the-world adventure video, but it does help me improve.

Some other creative things: set it near your birdfeeder to get good video of birds that you wouldn't get otherwise. Do time lapse: just set it up on a tripod and leave it for a few hours, then combine the image series in to a single video; I've done some really cool time lapse with the GoPro. I do take mine scuba diving, and I know people who haul it along on things like backpacking trips or international travel where they're trying to stay light.

It's a neat tool, though not necessarily useful for everyone. Be creative, and enjoy it!

Here's a couple of random GoPro videos:

A coworker gave me a case of V8 that expired in 2012. I couldn't think of anything better to do with it, so I shot it with .45 and .223. The GoPro was convenient to document the destruction because I didn't mind putting it on a tripod 5 feet from the target, where I would have been loathe to put my "real" HD video camera there.

I got one from my wife too. Wondering how I will use it as well. I am perplexed at all the skiiers I see wearing them...I can't imagine going home and watching 9 hours of POV skiing of myself. Would be better for my skiing technique to be able to see someone else filming me vs only seeing my POV.

Thinking of the car mount for the track tho.

I rarely use mine for video anymore. Prefer to use the camera. You can set it to shoot a pic incrementally. I strap it to the dirt or street bike and see what pics it comes up with. Some of the best photos of my riding have come this way. Time lapse on an egg timer set to 1 shot per 5 seconds is entertaining.

It would have to be a BIG drone and very expensive to haul a GO Pro. Most nice UAVs have a tiny featherweight camera on a gimbal and the wide angle of the go pro would suck for a drone.

Gopro?
I have more of them than I'll admit in mixed company.
Damn they are fun.
Number one and two uses: Sunset, Sunrise.
Try 30 second intervals for images and then string together with the Gopro software or Movie Maker.

I also use them hiking and boating in the mountains, very entertaining at least for me...

I use mine for a "dash cam" on my bicycle. Occasionally I catch something cool on it when a crazy driver does something strange.
The old family property has a hand dug well that is over 100 years old. I wanted to see what was down there so I attached the GoPro to a plumb bob and did an underwater exploration of the foot valve and siphon jet. I had to strap a 300 lumen water proof flash light to the rig to see much.

We mount ours on a harness on one of our Pugs when we go for walks with them. They have a very interesting perspective of things. I also mount mine of some of my single line kits and also take it to the range to record what I am doing and check for mistakes or other things.

Lot of interesting ideas here. I'm getting the feeling you suspect Mrs WD has an ulterior motive.
I have a UAV with a camera. It's fun.
Many of the suggestions don't require a GoPro do they? My 35 mm DSLRs will sit on a tripod and take incremental photos and video. So will my video camera.
How do you mount the GoPro for in-car video at the track. This is one I'm really interested in.

Go on their site. They make tons of different mounts. The suction cup mount is good for cars. The sticky mounts and roll bar mounts are good too.
