Buying a used car question...
Looking for a used VW to replace the wrecked one, I have a couple of questions about a VIN search.
A search of VIN numbers has the same cars all over the place for sale. Some ads new and some old. What's with that? Am I reading it right? https://www.google.com/search?q=WVGAV3AX6DW567833&oq=WVGAV3AX6DW567833&aqs=chrome..69i57j69i60l2&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=0&ie=UTF-8r A (worthless) CarFax report of one shows it to have been in for service 5 times for AC and heat check and 2 times for a Body electrical system check and sends up a red flag. Well, the multiple places in Gainesville are the same dealership business, they probably moved inventory around to "keep it fresh".
As it happens, I'm in Gainesville so if the car still is I could eyeball it for you if you have specific questions, or recommend a good local shop. Or, if you buy it and come pick it up meet ya for a coffee or a beer or something... Other wise the state to state moves are probably from auction sales or dealer trades |

I'm not sure where the car is. I saw it listed with Rick Hendick Mini of Charleston, but the search makes it seem like it could be any where.
This one has some red flags, but if it's local, I may go by to see it. Last edited by A930Rocket; 03-16-2016 at 06:43 PM.. |

That's weird. The new VW clutchless ac compressor has a sensor that will gum up and cause the ac to run warm. You can buy the sensor separately for around 70$ aftermarket, however, the part is not offered through vw and they require a new compressor as the fix. Happened twice under the 36k mi warranty for the mk6...

Just for fun, you should build a Tiguan brand new on TrueCar and see what they're going for. Around here they're showing a $1,000 reward car, in addition to whatever deal you cut. I'm just wondering how much more that winds up being than a used one for $18K.

I agree, probably bounced between different locations. There could also be a few wholesale sales involved, they don't always show up on a Carfax because the car is never actually registered when sold at a wholesale auction. Not necessarily a red flag, particularly on a newer car. Many dealerships will only keep a car for XX days depending on policy then send it directly to auction.
