X Files Philes (Reboot)
Pretty good - anyone else happen to catch it? Chris Carter has some good / fun writers. Always liked the series but thought it got played out and the big screen forays always seemed to come up short IMHO. This seems to have potential... Going to record.
|
I have it on the DVR, but haven't watched it yet.
Generally, when a show switches formats (eg TV show -> movie, movie > TV, movie -> cartoon, etc), it's an indication that it has jumped the shark and the resulting product sucks. |
I recorded it and watched about half of it. Seemed kind of silly...
|
I am looking forward to it and the reviews I've read say it gets better, the first episode was a luke warm start.
My problem is my DVR clicked on and recorded the right time but ended up getting mostly football post game and about half the show then shut off. I need a lesson in DVR programming. |
weak.

Loved it!
I always loved the original series and bringing back the same actors/characters is fantastic! They even showed aliens and that cool spacecraft! I was wondering if the smoking man would show up and sure enough there he was!!! I'm excited the series is back and really look forward to watching it! The truth.....you know it's out there! |

I missed the beginning of mine, for some reason, that's harder to do ;-) |
I worked on the feature. it was gruelling. up around Pemberton BC
also worked on the series for 3-4 years. was on set for the wacky Cadillac convertible scene. The episode with the Peacocks? Seymour demonstration forest. They refused to re-broadcast that one, for quite some time. Set dec dressed a scene in the actual N Vancouver grave yard. coffin sticking out, "embalming fluid" containers etc. it was in the winter, a cold spell hit, froze everything solid. they left that set standing in the graveyard for 2 weeks. normal-type visitors were aghast, not realizing it was a set. lots of night shots. working those productions. Chris Carter? not a bad thing to say about that guy. has to be one of the nicest producers out there. The lead actors? both truly nice people, from what i could tell. |

Coincidentally some nutball near my cubicle has the X-Files theme song as his ringtone. His phone just went off as I was reading this thread.
No joke. |
You're being watched. Be careful- samples may be needed.
|
looking back over that episode list, maybe one episode in five was good. now those one in five were spectacular. really awesome television. and the good ones can be traced to two or three writers.
the episode last night fell in the mediocre to horrible 80%. |
That was the first episode I have ever watched.
|
I watched the first episode of the mini-series last night. I was a pretty die hard X-Files fan back in the day.I liked the new one. I'm looking forward to the next 5.
|
I watched both episodes last night and yeah, it seemed like EP 10x1 was a slow dipping into the waters of the reboot, then 10x2 was jumping in fully to the old conspiracies. You can tell with 10+ years gone by there's going to be some back-story to fill in also.
|
I liked it. some interesting production techniques. great inserts. good casting in secondary roles. couple of "wooden performance" moments, mind you. she still looks great.
|
Watched the second episode last night. I liked it too. I'm looking forward to the third episode since it seems like it may stray a bit from the conspiracy into just a weird case.

EDIT: Looks like they are on Fox weekly....every Monday at 8pm. I just have to catch that last episode somewhere.... |

I got this link from the IMDb board for X-Files... supposedly, you can watch the episodes here: Watch The X-Files Online: Episode 1, Season 10 on FOX
I'm really enjoying it so far... I'm not trying to catch everything as it runs... will buy the DVD/s when it's released for that. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1453968994.jpg |

You boys must have grown up lately. Still no reference to Scully in the "IŽd hit that" context. :D

the Were-Monster episode is layered in X Files lore. bloody hilarious. yet succinct, in some fashion.
two thumbs up here. including the Kim Manners/Jack Hardy references via tombstone. |
Yeah tonight's episode was good.....love it!
|
I'll be watching it tonight. Can't wait. Our favorite episodes have always been the ones that weren't part of the big conspiracy (although I like those too).
|
The old humor times is back 10X..................wonderfully fresh for a rehashed show.
Reptilian good. |
That last scene with the handshake.....and then the reptile man walking away....classic X-Files material!
|
That was so much fun... so many in-jokes for the longtime fans. I chuckled the entire time.
Tyler Labine as one of the paint huffers... too funny. He always makes me laugh. Check out these "Easter Eggs:" http://www.vulture.com/2016/02/x-files-easter-eggs-weremonster.html |
We liked it, fun and entertaining.
|
there is an "in memory of Jack Hardy" Facebook page. he was a helluva 1st AD. sorta interesting insight into the Vancouver film community. https://www.facebook.com/JackHardyInMemory/
Kim Manners was an absolute gentleman. he directed around 50 episodes. |
Was thinking Agents Miller and Einstein could be an alternative Mulder and Scully....great episode!
|
"This is the End".
Awesome! |
excellent episode.
is that it? will they be back? i'm gonna arrange some work on that series. if it comes back. to Vancouver |
So far I will reluctantly say I feel a tad disappointed. The performance and handy work along with humor is spot on but I lack the tension and thriller-like experience I used to remember from the show. It kind of went from Hitchcock to Sandler.
|
I watch most of this series online as with most of my other viewing. Internet connection connection plus antenna on roof means no cable TV bill.
This last episode with the epidemic is a little fragmented, and hurried. I was enjoying the hopscotch characteristic of the different episodes, traditional, funny, dark, mysterious and so forth but it seems strained now. Hopefully things will settle into a rational pace soon. |
