Pelican Brain Trust - Business Name - ACCEPTUS - Yay or Nay?
Brainstorming ideas for a company name.
Don't want to jeopardize the domain so won't include the second word, but it doesn't really matter. Just think banking and finance. How does this word make you feel? I won't provide the Latin translation so it's unbiased. It will have a word following it which sufficiently describes the industry. The A allows for a fairly versatile logo for branding. Tons you can do with an A. I think it's corporate enough to resonate with bankers but trendy and classy. Maybe I'm off my rocker! What say you pelican brain trust? I can do a quick illustrator mock up for effect if you think that will help. ![]() ![]() Thanks! |

Gut feeling says it does not appeal to me. Does not sound right.
Nay for me.

No from me. It just comes across as two words "accept us" regardless of the Latin and that seems a bit cheesy.
Sorry |

Honestly it seems like more of a name of a protest group.

For me, it sounds like a "checks cashed" type place, or predatory loan type facility, or a low rate insurance policy. Something that gives something to someone that didn't qualify for a quality something somewhere else, so therefore, they would go here as a last resort and get reamed in the details.
It also sounds like the type of company that would also get bought out by an even more obscurely named company in short order. Sorry! ![]() |

It's catchy, but implies a kind of cut-rate business. I agree with the others.

Sounds like a new pharmaceutical for herpes.
If its finance related it needs to be in a power position or something totally random and unrelated (like Pelican Parts) that comes from a long day of brainstorming then a ride to the coastline.

It reminds me of Festivus from Seinfeld.
From Wiki.... The holiday's celebration, as it was shown on Seinfeld, includes a Festivus dinner, an unadorned aluminum Festivus pole, practices such as the "Airing of Grievances" and "Feats of Strength", and the labeling of easily explainable events as "Festivus miracles".[3] The episode refers to it as "a Festivus for the rest of us", referencing its non-commercial aspect. It has also been described both as a "parody holiday festival" and as a form of playful consumer resistance.[4]

Amazing. Focus group? No need when you have the PP brain trust.
Thanks all. Wayne is spot on. No longer do you just have to come up with a great name, but you have to find the domain. Literally EVERYTHING is taken. How do you feel about the new top level domains? .finance .it etc... I don't personally like them. Kinda gimicky at the moment and are going to take a long time to catch on. I may even just go with an acronym because a nice *blank* Financial is totally gone. I used a service that adds words to the end of your inputted word and creates a list of possible domains. Then I ran that list of 2k domains through a bulk domain search. Everything sensible is taken. It wasn't a surprise but it really makes you wonder about finding names in a few more years. |

Not making fun of JD or his idea- just having fun with it. ^ah man craigster beat me to it!
my first image was related to the transformers- optimus prime, etc. Acceptus would be the new transformer for the LGBT community and be loosely based on that guy from village people that wore leather and had the handlebar mustache. Good luck JD159! Last edited by LEAKYSEALS951; 01-29-2016 at 05:56 AM.. |

When you say the Domain is already taken, do you mean it an existing business or is it available for sale? As a consumer the name of the business should reflect what they do. Now I know I''m being captain obvious - but soo many miss it.
Also, my opinion, there are only three '.s' If it's commerce it should be .com. Non profit = .org Educational = .edu I think any other '.' is overly pretentious..............
