Epic Bad timing - Tata renaming new car called "Zica"

Tata motors in India was one month away from releasing a new car called "Zica" having nothing to do with the disease ravaging tropical countries.

They probably have all the bezels and sales materials printed.
This will join other epic car failure names like Chevy "Nova", Ford "Probe" and one I was not aware of, the "Nissan Homy Super Long"

There are consulting companies that will do extensive (and expensive!) name checks, internationally, before you name something. Zica was a virus earlier, so that should have been a no-go even a year ago if someone would have paid the bucks to have a decent research firm look into it.

Of course, the company name is TATA!

Remember the Chevy Nova decades ago?

They sold a model in Mexico.

In Spanish, No Va means "Won't go."

Myth, probably written by a silly sales or marketing teacher that wanted to make a point but didn't understand Spanish. No Va is pronounced differently than Nova. Nova also has its own meaning in Spanish.
