150 "militia" take over wildlife refuge center

This just in. 150 terrorist militia have been located, holed up in a remote spot. Are airstrikes on the way?. Okay, I'm kidding - sort of. The reality is almost as weird. From what I hear, the militia are NOT welcome per the residents. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Maybe we need an organized militia to remove the unwanted militia?

Maybe those so quick to condemn should get more of the story here: Anti-gov't protesters march through Burns These men had already been to prison for their "crime" of burning 126 acres to control an invasive species. They served their sentences, were then released. A Federal prosecutor then went to a judge claiming their original sentence wasn't time enough. A federal Judge agreed. The two news sources linked in the original post seem to neglect mentioning this part of the story, which really brought about the protests.

Let's see. One guy burned off 126 acres to ward off an invasive species, and the other guy owes a million in taxes. The guy who burned off the land doesn't want to be associated with the guy who owes the taxes. HMMM. Which one do you suppose is the militant ? | ||

Like Cliven's big shindig in '14, this is just a bunch of people whipped up into a rage that have found something tangible to get angry at, however misplaced the aggression, or disconnected the cause may be. It's evident that the gathering is not welcomed by the ranchers, and that the militia has their own agenda that's not exactly in direct relation to the two rancher's being jailed a second time. I'm starting to liken the organizers of these militia to guys like Sharpton, and Jackson; Never pass up an opportunity to exploit someone else's problems for your own exposure.

Hope this doesnt turn into another Waco. Would hate to see the wildlife refuge center damaged. It is probably about 30F (edit: 10-20F) there now, so shutting off power, and blocking roads, seems like a good idea. Make it too cold to stay, and prevent them from driving away, or others from joining them. Jail is warm. Unclear how many people are actually there. 150 might be way overstated.

It was 150 or so that marched in the town earlier, 90% of whom developed some sense before occupying the wildlife refuge.

Sadly so. If I were to do it over again, I'd either buy a late 80's coupe & put air con in it, or just go 993. I miss the 993 more than the '89 or '83 though. Sad part is, if I'd have kept any of them I could sell them for darn near double what I sold them for now. D'oh! Pouring time & money into my '85 Land Rover instead. It's a different kind of fun, and more 'justified' since I'm building it to withstand the ravages of a Caribbean climate (we're retiring to St. Thomas, USVI in 2021). This is still the best OT spot!
