who has had Pliny the Younger? (beer)

my wife just texted me. the line is down the block. they tap into the 2016 batch today.

i was toying with the idea of "dropping by" my new office and then dropping off to taste a pint. seems like too much effort to taste a beer.


what's the deal? i've had Pliny the Elder, and it is okay..it's definitely and exercise in hops.

It being a double IPA, to me it tastes like very bitter beer with vodka added. It just plain is not beer at 11% ABV in my book. It is barley wine. I don't get the excitement about it - I think it is a lot of "look at me - I drink the strongest / nastiest stuff".

I would definitely sample it if the brewery is local, but to go to a beer release and deal with big crowds? Negative!

BTW, usually not served in pints because of the ABV.

i like BallastPoint Sculpin. it has about the right hop to it. (for me). reminds me of Racer5
