This my first post to pelican, but have known about it for a long time now, my pops crustychief has been a member for quite a while now. He recommended I join.
I have always been interested in p cars and always wanted my own so I decided to start my journey with a 87 944. I was looking at a pre 85.5 944 that was in perfect condition but it sold before I could come up with with the cash so I went another route and bought this car, a little rough around the edges but with a car like this I won't feel guilty by putting aftermarket upgrades or painting it another color. If there are any 944 owners or Porsche enthusiasts in Colorado Springs/ Denver feel free to pm me. Itd be really cool to meet other car enthusiasts Here are some pics of both cars, the guards red one is the one I was going to get and the Maraschino Red Metallic one is the one I purchased ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Welcome to the forum!
I visited Colorado Springs last year and saw quite a few Porsche's running around; I'm sure there are some members floating about down there. |

Welcome Matt!
There is a meet the first Saturday of the month of a little north and west of Denver, as well as a PCA Breakfast in Denver. I am a bit north of you in Fort Collins. I like the color of the one you bought. Bill |

Welcome to the club!! There's definitely pelicans down in C Springs.
Here's the link for the C&C up near Boulder. It's a great event with lots of Porsches and other cars. Boulder/Denver Pelicans Coffee and Cars

Congratulations on the car purchase Matt! Like I told you. there are lots of talented smart folks that are eager to help a fellow enthusiast on this board. Have you taken Jacob for a ride yet? Love the color by the way.

Feel free to discuss anything but politics and religion on this forum, there is a separate section for that but I forbid you to go there until you are 21. Lol. Seriously though, I have made many good decisions only after consulting the "pelican brain trust".

Thousands and thousands of Pcars in the Springs and Denver.
Look into the PCA, they do lots of social stuff and drives. http://AMRporsche.com/ The Northern PCA (RMR PCA) even comes down there for lunch drives several times a year. Last edited by tcar; 01-28-2016 at 09:56 PM.. |

Like Crusty said, anything you could ever think about has already been discussed here, so don't be shy. Welcome to the forums....nice car, my 85.5 is opposite of yours, white body color with burgundy interior......enjoy.

I love the burgundy interior, there was only one car rolling around on Craigslist that color but it looked like someone my age owned it and diddnt take care of it, and gave it the autozone special.
That's cool they have c&c in Denver, I have been to a few events here in the springs with the local group, just no Porsches. The only person I know who has one has a 85.5 with a 5cyl Audi swap And it is an addiction, hands will definitely get dirty and probably cut up (tight spaces) after the intake manifold gets back on my truck. Thanks for the welcome |

Welcome, Matt!
Looks like your 944 has a 924 hatch/spoiler on it? I'm kind of digging that look! You might want to post an introduction on the 924/944 section of Pelican as well, lots of knowledgeable folks there who might not look in the Off Topic section. Definitely check out Porsche Breakfast Club the second saturday of every month. They meet at The Perfect Landing restaurant at Centennial airport on the south end of Denver. Not a lot of 944s there, but definitely a great group of guys who can provide you with information and inspiration. Jason

Welcome! This is a fantastic resource, you can spend hours just reading through old posts. I love the color of your 944, much less cliche than Guards Red.

Color isn't too bad, it needs a reprint though. Clear on the hood and roof is pretty gone, thinking about going the same color though

That last one isn't your car. Too bad you can't drive it out here for a day. Be careful though. remember my obsession started with our black 944 then exploded my wallet from there. I would definitely get hooked up with the local PCA group and do some autocrosses, you will love that.

I'm not too sure if it's a 924 hatch or not. Did the 924s have a lip on the hatch?

Started working on the car today
![]() Just kidding, my other hobbie is building plastic models and remote controll airplanes, I get that one from my old man. But with real seriousness I'm going to build this the way I want my car to look. Haven't decided if the repaint will be the same color or not. I like the color but I'm thinking a metallic red, close to what it is but brighter. I'm not a too big fan of them in blue or yellow. Black, red, gold, alpine white all look good in my mind. For the model I'm building I removed the door trim moldings and that's about it. Not a big fan of them (sorry if you are) I won't be painting the car for a while but I'm planning to use eastwoods dual stage metallic paint / clear coat and their 2k primer/ filler. Not going for a concourse paint job. Usually a rule of thumb is not to spend more than half of the price of the car on a paint job, I have access to a temp/ humid controlled booth so I'll be doing it myself with the doors, hatch, bumper cover and fenders removed . Think I'll keep the hood on to keep the paint on the roof and good even etc etc.... I have some time to plan that out. Will post a thread on that when I get there For now it's just models while the weather is bad ![]()
