My Son is now a Disney Cast Member!
Got the job on his own working at the Disney Golden Oak Ranch. The only juice I applied was to get the Ranch Mgr. to "see" his resume" through the electronic filtering process. They were so impressed with him that they created a new position above and beyond what they were looking for to hire two both top applicants. He beat out about 100 applicants. At his first interview they asked him the usual questions then as he was about to leave, the Ranch manager asked him casually what he thought was on the white board and he looked at it and said, "its a schematic of a water well supply and distribution system." He was the only applicant that got that

Congratulations to him! You must be proud.
Just curious, what does understanding water well supply and distribution system schematics have to do with being a cast member? |

We have an 880 acre ranch in Newhall, CA He'll be working there. We raise crops and film there.

A lot of history at that ranch. Congrats to your son! Are they currently or still planning on adding sound stages there? It seemed to be a big deal and a shot in the arm for California film production awhile back.

The 12 sound stages are currently on hold. I don't know why. It was a big plan a few years ago.

I have to say, I am not surprised in the slightest that you and your wife have children that are accomplished and successful. Apple does not fall far from the tree.

Eagle Scout, but he had to stand on his own. Like I said, I only wanted his resume' and qualifications to stand on his own, and at least get looked at. He earned it on his own. Not a lot of money, $38K/year, but its salary plus OT, so with all the filming it could be $60k+ per year, yes he will earn every penny. Add in company pension, 401K matching, 10 days sick time, 2-3 weeks vacation, medical insurance, college reimbursement, etc. Its a sweet deal. Plus annual passes for four to the Disneyland/Disney World resorts. He and his G/F are Disney Land junkies so the annual savings on that are huge.

It's not always about the money Hugh! Got tag start somewhere and getting in with a good company is key. You can work your way up to more money. Congrats to your son!

During his orientation, walking around the Studio, several people came up to me and asked if he was my Kid. I guess he sort of looks like me. Yeah, we may employee lots of people, but the Studio/Corporate Offices aren't that big.

Congrats to both of you on jobs well done! I love stories like this. As a dad, I know every success my children have makes me 100 times more proud than anything I've ever accomplished. Fantastic!
