What's your time worth? Spend $2500 and find a nice one that runs.

Unless you're in it for the puzzle, which is cool too. I did a CBR600 that was blown up and had a great time and learned a lot.

Edit: Yeah don't buy that.

Takes some skill to put back a bottom end with transmission correctly and that's if you did the disassembly.... A basket case, might get more $$ parting it out. Who knows those early carb'ed bikes do have a following, and you just need that one enthusiast.

I'd be prompted to sell the parts...time permitting...mo $$$ (?).
A decent presentation except for "partially disassembled".
I guess "fully disassembled" would be pulling the bearings off the rusting gear clusters?
Clever to set the tranny parts atop the IPB.
Good luck to your son.

I bought something like that when I was 15. My mother was dead set against motorcycles, but figured I could learn some mechanical skills that might lead to a career of some sort later. Her bet was I'd never get it running.

I was riding all over the neighborhood 3 weeks later.......In the 49 years since, never been w/o a motorcycle.......

Here is the ad that was flagged for removal. Why?

Quote:
1993 Kawasaki Ninja ZX6 – partially disassembled

If your too afraid to wrench or timid of speed, please don’t waste my time or yours by reading any further. This bike has been taken apart to completely restore to mint. All parts are available. She just needs someone who can put her back and ride her the way she deserves to be ridden – hard, fast, and with purpose and passion. Are you man enough? A quote from Cycleworld: “To this day, it remains one of the best all-around motorcycles ever sold…. Compared to the other sporty middleweights of the era, the ZX-6 was the fastest, the quickest, the roomiest, the most comfortable and the most versatile. Soon afterward, 600-class sport bikes started evolving into all-out race bikes with lights.”

You won’t find a Ninja ready for your hands on the market today. This is a gift to you from the Gods of Speed. Acceleration 0 - 60 mph = 3.3 seconds, acceleration 0 - 100 mph = 8.2 seconds, standing ¼ mile = 11.54sec / 117 mph. Braking 60 mph – 0 = 41.1 m / 135 ft. $700 cash and it is yours. Clean title, 11,000 miles. Serious bikers who wrench please call, all others move on.

When I read words such as these in an ad I always feel put off. Just me, I guess.
Otherwise, I don't see any other glitch - are the stats he provides accurate?

Very pompous words. I read it that way as well. Creative writing that left the elephant in the room. That sales tactic might work on a running bike/sports car/lifted truck.

something like this. People are more interested if you, and why you took it apart. Anything broken/not usable, reason you have an engine in pieces, ect.

Might be easier to tell people it just needs an engine, I would sleep better at night.

This may work better:

Quote:
Ninja for sale. Parts bike, or fix it. Your choice. The pictures show the current state of (dis)assembly.

This is a project, possibly a rewarding project.

Email me if you have any questions.
No need to try to intimidate people into buying a bike...

Joel,
You are correct - he got a few hits. He has made a few hundred bucks over the last few months buying / fixing / selling stuff. This was a bit bigger than he can handle. Now he thinks he may want to keep it and rebuild.
