The bluing is from the lobe hardening process. My point is the roller cam on the bottom doesnt gave those bluing marks. Mis matched cam and lifters?

Just typing out loud. Fun to try and figure things out.

Agreed. Speculation is strong on this thread. Without seeing more...err all of this motor we're just thinking out loud. Car guys do that a lot I hear.
