Is there some reason why the Noah household is getting all sorts of charitable solicitations via telephone this time of year? December I understand, due to tax reasons. But after the new year? Is there some way a charitable donation now can be applied to the 2015 tax year? Couple months ago I renewed my Do Not Call registration. I understand (though totally don't agree with) how political campaigns can ignore DNC status, but can charities do the same?

I recently checked to see if we were on the Do Not Call list as well. From what I read, my understanding is that charities are about the only ones that are allowed to call you. Any for profit business isn't supposed to be calling. I'm about to start scheduling home improvement appointments with the contractors that call us on a regular basis. Maybe if I waste some of their time by turning them away at the door they'll quit wasting my time.

Someone figured out what those two letters at the front of your name mean? Most people who call me are young kids who are given a list of names from their bosses. When I explain to them about the DNC list most have never heard of it. They are not happy when I explain they and there boss can be fined for breaking the DNC list regulations.

Unplugging the landline is no option, will never do as long as it is available. We have not received any such calls since the laws where made more restrictive some years ago (in Germany), but they might take up the calling again when they find ways to get around them. I sometimes asked them for theire invoice address because I will send them an invoice for the time they are stealing. *click* In Sweden it is legal to make contracts via the phone which I find very disturbing! Some companies record the call, cut together words and single parts to form a "Ja" ("Yes") which means you agree to theire offer. In Sweden I usually just hang up the phone without saying anything. Annoying *******s! I dont care if they are poor students or other minorities. Thats not my problem. | ||
