Note the wheel base extension. Very clever! As always great stuff from Ruf.

I like them both but I'll always lean towards the Ruf cars.

does anyone know why Ruf wheels are so heavy?

rs200evo 03-05-2016 08:21 PM

I think it has something to do with strength and stability at speeds in the 200mph and above range, as opposed to being overly concerned about the relatively small increase in weight.

many moons ago I met Alois Ruf at dunkel's.

IIRC Seinfeld was there that year too.

What no price for the new CTR?

Dang was going to order a few of them.

stuartj 03-09-2017 02:35 PM

This Yellowbird is the coolest new car of all time, IMHO. 750k euro Ive read.

Great video. A bit dumbed down for the lowest common denominator, but very well filmed.

I had to chuckle - they reuse the break in oil for 8 engines!!! That will make the oil purists head explode! :D

That surprised me as well. Maybe something got lost in translation?

- Or they filter out any metallic particles before using it on the next engine.

aigel 11-07-2022 09:23 PM

The filter will catch any metal. But I'd worry about the assembly lube washing into the oil and accumulating between builds. That's not something you are going to filter out. Maybe they just use the same thick break in oil for assembly lube? Even during the hard break in procedure, the temperature stress on the oil is probably fine, especially on a water pumper.

After seeing this film, you bet I will specify they use fresh oil when they break in my engine!
