I'll take one of each!
In all seriousness, you have to think they are angling for a share of the Singer business.

Now in 993 land ...

I was going to say - these cars run circles around that overpriced backdate ...
This type of stuff only will propel air cooled prices higher and higher ... Note that the only long hood is the original RS ... G |

I understand they are a Porsche "tuner" but if they are building the complete body, aren't they knocking off Porsche?

Yes but they don't manfacture Porsches, they retrofit them. This is a revival of an old model, i guess there's no harm in that...

Singer has never even been near the bar that Ruf set with the Yellowbird, IMO.

They do both, and have been a manufacturer for a long time.
Back in the day, they would use bare p-car bodies directly from Porsche to build their cars (I'm sure they do a lot more in-house manufacturing these days). If you buy a factory Ruf car, it will have a Ruf VIN. ![]()

Dang man, I had to watch that twice. They are a heck of a lot more collectible then Singer's. How much for one of those you think? I really like the gray and orange one.

Agreed, really two completely different approaches, both special in their own way.

^ +1. No need to pick on Singer. Singers are so nice.
The long wheelbase orange wasserpumper is pretty intriguing. The added 7cm shows up in the side view and looks so subtle. Excellent job. I think that one needs to be mine. |

Hot Damn. How many of you guys that were teenagers in the '70's drooled over the RUFs in Road and Track like me?
I gotta say tho my favorite car in the video was the restored barn find RS. . . .

No Singer has hit 200 MPH. The 200+ top speed of the RUF point out a big difference in HP. Top speed is certainly not a most important part of the measure of a car, but it points out the potential for power to weight ratio which is indeed a major performance point of any car.
Nothing at all against the Singer. It is a fabulous car. But it is not the same league as RUF. I suspect when one goes to the state DMV to get a tag for their new Singer it is titled as a 1989 911. The RUF is titled as a new RUF.

IIRC, they are not only considered a separate manufacturer, but Porsche has given Ruf its blessing to modify Porsche cars and sell them as Ruf-Porsches. So it's all good!
