Dropping Adderal tomorrow

25 years of taking the stuff or some derivative for ADD.

It is a stimulant. I'm almost 60. I am not in the corporate world anymore.

Going to give my heart a break.

Don't see a downside except for a week or so of lethargy. Maybe a caffeine headache for a day or so.

...and a few lost sets of car keys ;)

That happens WITH the stuff. What's the difference?

Jandrews 03-09-2016 06:13 PM

What kind of dose were you taking, Bob? Any adverse effects of long term use?

JA

rusnak 03-09-2016 06:14 PM

no more Vitamin A. Where are my pants?

My bet is that if you live up northhhh.....- it was the seasonal affective disorder all along.
Drop the adderal crap. The days are getting longer. You will feel better by the minute!

EDIT-oh lookeee here- at the bottom of this thread is an opportunistic advert for a new ADD drug advertol? (I already forgot the name of it- maybe I need it) There's a pretty 20 something pictured in it. She's cute- how bad could it be? Cheesusfreaggginrice! FU internet!

20 MG extended release.

Nope on long term effects other than the same (I am guessing) downside of drinking four-six cups of coffee per day on top of the usual two or three.

Noooo - I got it, Bro. One brother, one sister, my son, my 80 year old Dad. All from Dad's Mom. Hammann was her maiden name. Damned Germans.:D

I can't see the risk in quitting.

As to advertisement. Was reading a while back about Austin clock tower shooting in the 60's. Started getting Rhino round pop-ups and shotgun shell ads when I went to youtube.

Bob. Have you investigated whether it would be better to taper off rather than quit abruptly?

Arizona_928 03-09-2016 09:05 PM

You're going to have a miserable week.
Go out to the cabin.

My understanding is that is the best course to take with any drug you have been taking for any length of time.

I'd consult with your Dr. about taking a lower mg drug before quitting cold turkey.

All the best from the hospital. :)

20mg isn't much but you should at least talk to your Doctor before hand.

What will your wife/sig oth, think about you quitting ? I am no advocate of medication, but you need someone unbiased to tell you if you need to go back on it if things arten't working out.

I'm 65 and gave up Effexor 6 months ago. I was on the stuff for well over 15 years. I could feel the withdrawal effects for a couple of months but I'm ok now.

It was a big step for me.

Good Luck.

so it IS rough on the heart?

I've been fighting add my whole life without drugs and seem to be losing the war. at 43 though i'm not down with any meds that would put any stress on my heart.

Joe Bob 03-10-2016 06:43 AM

What's the street price on the stuff? Could be a nice side line....%^)

Not that "I" would do something like that....

If you really need it, stress from not taking it s probably equal if not more harmful...??

It is a stimulant. Stimulants are additive in your system

10 cups of coffee vs two. Which is harder on the heart?

That's all I am saying.
