I Need a Break!

One of the great benefits of PPOT is that I can come here and take a break from intense writing or photo editing. Catching up with you guys can completely take my mind off of what I'm doing for a while, and let me get back to work with a fresh start. Thanks!!

I'm here now because I just spend a hour grinding my teeth and turning this crappy photo:

Into this crappy photo. And I still have more sharpening and blending to do. Argh!

The original is better.

Just my opinion.

Not that you asked.

Sorry.

I have some great pictures of my daughter and me together when she was young. The only problem...My crazy-as-hell ex-wife is in them. Can you take her out and blend like you did that tent and people walking?

For $10.00 bucks a pop I'll replace the ex wife with the supermodel of your choosing.

Reminds me of a guy who once said "You can't make chicken soup out of chicken sh#$!"

Sorry- feel your pain. I am soooo glad I only mess around with photoshop as a silly hobby. If I had to do that for real, I'd go crazy.

I'd set a strict limit (say 10 minutes) as to how long you mess around with it. You are only torturing yourself!

It depends on the purpose of the image, of course. I had to have a photo of the car, not a scene with a car in it. The background is WAY too busy for my purposes.

Garbage in, garbage out.

My personal favorite, "you can't polish a turd"

Oh, the cruel irony! You come here to get a break from your job only to be pummeled on PPOT.

No worries. I'm going through boxes of old photos of George Montgomery's career. I'm having a ball with this project, it just gets a little tedious at times.
I'm off to El Riacho for a enchilada and margarita or three - and an early start to the weekend!

This is what I do all day for a living. Never with the Malco gasser, though..

And, yes,I grind my teeth when I'm doing it.

When replacing sections of sky a good way to do it is to copy paste a much larger chunk than you need, add a layer mask then use a really soft fat brush to blend the two together. Works really well when dealing with clouds.

For areas like around the cowl, bottom outside edge of the drivers fender and that area of roofline right above the drivers door where you have some colors bleeding and compression artifacts plus pixelated defining edge. Get a selection and apply a small feather to it then use the smudge tool to pull color out to the edge.

Geesh. Did I mention that I still had a lot of work to do on it?
What I posted is a work in progress. As for cloning, did you notice that the background and much of the sky on the right is background and sky from the left, copied, scaled, and pasted in? Yes, still blending to do. Still lots to do. You're looking at 5 or six layers. I wasn't really asking for advice. I know what I'm doing.
