best advice to any young person that will listen...do what others hate...learn math, public speaking, and how to write.

That program in the video most likely only works on the most specific and contrived examples. The product itself has no market viability whatsoever. In other words, it's not a real program, but just a proof of concept designed to showcase his skills. Think of it as a resume line item designed to get him another job.

It's a real app fully downloadable. Have a friend in CA who had to homeschool her daughter for a couple of years who has been using it and says it works great. Probably a bit more to it but at it's core it's likely OCR that replaces manually keyed entries. .

^^ Point the app at a calculus problem and report back. It only supports the most trivial operations capping off at the most basic of Algebra.
It also can not solve a word problem. In other words, don't sell your calculator if you plan to go past 8th grade. https://photomath.net/en/examples

Are you still using one of these? Why not? They were the standard for a couple thousand years.

RPN backed up by a slide rule! Remember the engineers at mission control sent nearly all missions up using slide rules to check their calculations.

What part of "it only does the most basic math operations" do you not understand? Do you have the faintest clue at what a modern $100 graphing calculator is capable of? About 1000x more things than this little gimmick for kids.

Best one for me is still the girl at HD that needed a calculator to figure out the linear feet for 14, ten foot pieces of baseboard.

It does require a bit of understanding of technology and how rapidly it advances to appreciate the potential and disruptive nature of this app. Take care. |

The calculator is dead.
I'm not super great at math.
I own three of these. Bought a few used ones to backup my old college unit (primary) when I had to send it in for repairs. I was lucky there is a guy collecting old ones for parts and had the skills to do the fix. He had to change out my keyboard. If it was not repairable, he offered to buy it for more parts. Iimmediately bought two more. $50 each. One is brand new looking. ![]() That app looks pretty cool. If you understand the concept, I don't mind the tool to get you the end results. 14 pieces of straight baseboard at Home Depot? This story is fiction.

I doubt it is fiction. When I did commercial flooring the warehouse manager that was there a short time could not do the simplest math for the jobs we went to. I doubt she could have told you how much to cut off the next roll when the first ran out at 100 feet and you needed 150 feet.

Pretty sure it was MDF baseboard, I'll admit it could have been crown mold or trim, but what's your point other than being a dick?

Last week I spent 4 really long days studying for the ISO level III vibration analysis certification.
On Friday I took the test, all I was allowed to have was a pen/pencil and my cheepo sharp scientific calcumalator. Long story longer: I passed the test because I knew the math. If I had gotten used to a crutch to do it for me the results would not have been as good. |
