does registering phone number at "do not call" even work?

Let new number leave message. This is what I always do, because most of them are just unwanted calls. Sometimes, I just look up the number on Google or some sites like Report Phone Number to WhyCall.Me to check if people have reported the number as scam. It saves a lot of my time rather than picking up all of those calls.

On the home phone have nomorobo and can't sing it's praises enough.

Have noticed an uptick in solicitation calls to the cell phone. Not terrible, yet.

As a rule I NEVER EVER give my cell number out to anyone other than friends or clients. Everyone else gets my google voice number.

I also NEVER EVER answer a number that I don't recognize.

I've had this same cell number 25 years and it's the only way to keep it useable.

that's how I am. I NEVER give my number to a business unless it is needed for them to call me. if I go into a store and they want my number when I buy something like a battery, I don't give it out. same with my Email.
now my wife, I cant get her to understand this. I also don't like that she uses her first and last name in her Email address.

I also don't facebook, twitter or do what ever the latest fad is.
I have some old friends that send me requests to join some kind of email account or club they are on, I deny it. unfortunately I don't have their emails so I have not talked to them in quite a while.
