A question to all Pelicans
 

I have observed that people who are interested in cars also have interests in one or all of the following: guns and fire arms, aviation, and motorcycles.

I am speaking to those of us who spend a great deal of time money and energy on our car hobby. Also Many of us are employed in aviation or were at one time.

I would appreciate any feed back from fellow pelicans

If you add hookers and blow, I'm in.

I dig cars but have little interest in guns or motorcycles. Not really into aviation, either.

Smith and Wesson, Piper Cherokee, Harley Davidson, Gibson ... Can't afford hookers, and blow. Gotta settle for wife and beer.

After 22 years in two separate Armies, I have had enough of guns, and don't get the US gun fetish...

But, I also love to fly, and used to ride until my back broke.

Don't drink due to prescription drug habit...

Well, if you bottom slice the extremists, a pretty interesting hobby.

I have three rifles but am not a gun nut. I just run across them, think they are cool (two of them), at least at that moment, and buy them. None for protection.

Squillions in America like me. Dad died so I got his gun. I want to kill that farking groundhog. I hear of break-in's, I am going to get a pistol cause my neighbor convinced me. Whatever the reason.

If there is anything to get it's the news media pumping fear into the population to better sell air time. We excel at that.

Our firearms laws in Australia make gun owning too difficult, not really into aviation or bikes. I think a lot of car guys are probably into watches?

I have no interest in owning guns but have been to the range to reek havoc many times. I have a 1988 Yamaha FZ600 I ride in the summer for fun (have had a bike most of my adult life). Also raced spec 125 karts for a few years until I couldn't keep it in my schedule anymore.
I think people who like "cool stuff" are drawn to older Porsches for their air cooled uniqueness and styling.

Porsche's, other cars, motorcycles (BMW mostly), watches (mechanical duh), and cement factories are my thing. I would be into airplanes and 'copters, but I have neither the time nor the money. I despise boats, other guys can't seem to get enough of that ****. Guns..... let's just say I'm Canadian.

Hookers and blow... that would trump it all but not for very long now would it?

Cars, guitars and watches for me these days.

Sold all my bikes but still dream of them. Plenty guns. No planes. Sailboat. Stereo. Won't pay for hookers but I'll look, no blow ever.

I did a Pelican forum search for hookers and blow and this thread came up... But I still didn't find... Forget it.

No more bikes for me, but I think an air cooled Porsche is a good replacement for a bike fix. You just swap the gas smell for oil smell.

This is some funny stuff .... I have 2 young kids so I barely have time even for wrenching these days. I enjoy doing adrenaline sports such as skateboarding(duh), snowboarding and wake boarding ... Cruising the canyons in the 911 fills a bit that I can't get on my boards.

I love guns too.....but certainly don't have the time to really use them that much. They are more for home defense than sport.

For me the car rebuild thing is fairly new. I'm into new BMW's, building things with wood, mountain biking, and downhill skiing. Life is too good to waste on blow or skanks.

Turned out to be an entertaining thread. Some funny stuff.

Just cars mostly here...but thinking of getting back into motorcycles. Being 62, I don't want to wait much longer.

Cars of all sorts. Inboard tow boats.

In addition to the above, I hear that guys interested in cars also spend a lot of time looking a naughty pics and vids . . . or maybe that's just the Turbo guys?!?!?! :eek:

My missus has a theory that has yet to be disproven. She states that in general, men have two out of three of the following interests a) cars, b) sport, c) music.

I'm into old cars and old vinyl.

I grew up building American muscle pro street cars, than switched to P-cars in my 30's. My other interest is MMA, specifically Brazilian Jui jitsu. I find myself training 4 x per week and playing with the car once a month.:confused: When it breaks (like now) it may sit for 3 or 4 months until I get to it. I have zero patience for having to call a tow truck after a 2 mile drive to the store, then spend hundreds of dollars, time/energy on getting it fixed, only to drive it a few times a month. That said, I think I'll always have some kind of hotrod in my life....probably this one. Im not a quitter.SmileWavy

I have been interested in motorcycles since I was 14. and this august I will be celebrating my 68. I have owned approx 125 motorcycles and 90 cars of which ten of them are Porsches; and probably 50 English cars such as, Morgans, Lotus Super Seven, Sunbeam Tiger, E Type and the list.

Most of the motorcycles I have owned I have built from scratch and are known as STREET TRACKERS. I have also owned a few rare bikes such as a Honda RC30, a Suzuki RG500 and many more.

I have always had a interest in fire arms I shoot sporting clays, Trap and Skeet. I enjoy fine shotguns but I am not a avid hunter

When I graduated from college in 1972 I started hang gliding and enjoyed it for aprox 10 years when I stopped at the request of my family but i do miss it.

The one thing that I have always had an interest in are Porsches and I think one of the best things have received from my involment with Porsches art the great friends I have made and I am including the Pelicans. There is no such thing as a stranger; it just a friend I have not made.

I have owned a 86 Heritage Softail for about 15 Years but don't ride it much now as the C3 gets most of my fun time! Never did the hooker thing but was certainly around a bunch of blow when I worked with bands when I lived in LA about 40'years ago. The highlight of that period in my life was rewiring Ike Turners Bolic Sound recording studio in Inglewood! I read somewhere recently that he had claimed he spent $11,000,000 on the stuff!
Probably should have had a Porsche habit instead!

I qui riding because I had the feeling that there was another accident out there with my name on it. I have been in two accidents and if you are on a bike you will loose. AT 67 years old it takes longer to heal. If you are from San Diego did you ever ride MT Palamor?

it's not too bad, i'm never really inconvenienced.
like Bob i see something cool (mainly older, service or vintage rifles in my case) and nab it so long as i don't have an outstanding bill on the porsche :D
planes are too expensive and no interest in bikes though a few of my friends are temporary citizens.
Have picked up archery recently, as well as a brace of bmw projects..

This is an older pic of my collection, you can add some MK1's MK2's and 3's to the collection, more water cooled than I wanted but the VW's are pretty cool cars, Now I am starting on Audi's You get the German theme? except for the British SE5a, lol
