In our house, when the idiot P.O. installed the outlets, some are with the ground up, and some are with the ground down, others are still the two prong (no ground) type. I am so not OCD, that I have lived this way for 20+ years in this house. None of the screws line up either.

I do find that I end up washing my hands a bit more than most people (reduced immune system, and always working on dirty stuff). It does drive me crazy thinking about all the child sneeze germs on a the grocery store shopping cart, so I either sanitize it, or wash hands before leaving.

I got in the habit long ago of shutting both lids on the toilet, so no one is tempted to pee without lifting, and the women don't complain.

All the little screws on the house light plates are horizontal. That makes me feel good.

When at the grocery store, they have a small gift aisle. There's a shelf with a bunch of stuffed animals. When no one is looking, I'll turn one of the stuff animals upside down. I dont' know why, but doing that makes me giggle inside.

After reading these posts, I feel pretty normal, thank you.

You are a freakin' helicopter pilot man.

Made me laugh. It has been almost ten years since my last flight in a helo so the twitching has subsided and the rash is gone:)

I had a few "routines" and talismans when I was playing sports but I am OCD free: some of the things folks posting on this thread notice and must change is really interesting.

Most of my OCD is in the kitchen.

Steel my knife before every use.
Polish my copper pots after every use.
Roll up leafy greens (spinach, etc) and cut a chiffonade.
Cut garlic into slices, then matchsticks, then cube.
Pot handles always face back and left.
Spices in labeled magnetic tins on a steel board, grouped (herbs, heat, salt, sweet, weird)

I also observe the traditional bike OCD, even if my bike is filthy it is always correct under the grime.

Hub label visible through valve hole
Rims facing the same way.
Trailing and lead spokes oriented same on front and rear.
Cables symmetrical when viewed from the front.
Brakes adjusted to 1/2" freeplay at lever tip.
QR levers pointing up/back and up/forward.

Otherwise, my life is a sloppy random mess. My switch plate screws faces every which way, sometimes the switch plates are missing. My clothes are all over the floor. Books piled everywhere. Workbench covered with litter. Cats fed too often or not at all. Weeds in the garden. Son's breakfast before school might be leftover pizza. My wife is perennially unhappy with me. But I do wipe the toilet and put down the seat after every use, so there's that.

As I mentiond earlier in the thread, I have the money in my wallet in numerical order and all facing the same way. I really don't think it is a OCD thing, it is just a lot easier and faster to find the amount I need. When I get my change I usually just stuff the bills in the front of the wallet and I don't stand there wasting time to organize the bills. When I am getting dressed in the morning I will organize the cash if needed.

The switch palate screws at my are in random order. The tip of the Porsche crests on my Fuchs do point at the valve stem but that is also where the wheel lock lug is. It makes it easier to know which lug has the lock.

Some of you guys have some funny OCD things.

Ironically, the D in OCD stands for Disorder.

Oh Haha 04-08-2016 07:54 AM

I do the billfold cash thing as well but I orient the bills when they are given to me. I watch as the person hands me the cash and know instantly if work is needed.

When I ran the school book fair a couple of weeks ago, not one bill was out of orientation, same with the CC receipts and checks.

When I had a second register last year I had to go through the bills and orient them before I turned the cash drawer in to the principal. The parent volunteer that ran it apparently didn't see the point.

Yes, I gently suggested to her during downtime that it would be "helpful" if it was done as she took the bills.

Same lunch every day for 30+ years.

I would feel a lot better if the letters in 'OCD' were in alphabetical order.

When it comes to eating meals that have more than one item on the plate, such as meat, vegetables, and potato, I have to eat each item in turn before moving on to the next. I could never take a bite of one item and then a bite of a different item before the first is completely finished.

My ex had the exact opposite - she saved exactly one bite of each item to finish the meal, then ate each item in the "correct?" order...

ckelly78z 04-08-2016 10:52 AM

Eating meals, I usually try a bite of each thing (or when the mood strikes me), and all the other members of the household will eat all of one side dish before even tasting another side. My son goes the entire meal without drinking anything, and then guzzle a glassfull.

My parents absolutely must eat breakfast at 7:00 am, lunch at 11:30, and Supper at 5:30 (have to be done eating in time for the 6:00 news on TV, and all meals are are the "set" dining room table. I eat when it's convenient, wherever I am sitting.

A guy at work brings the same meal everyday for lunch (always cauliflower, with rice in a corning ware dish), I try to mix it up, but usually have some sort of frozen meal, and fruit.

For the longest time, I ate around a sandwich saving the best part for last. I have no idea when i stopped doing that because I noticed I haven't done that in a long time. maybe around college?

911SauCy 04-09-2016 05:51 AM

the barstools on my kitchen island need to be adjusted to the same height, seats turned the same orientation, equidistant apart and from the island...

porsche4life 04-09-2016 06:02 AM

God, Thuy always tells me I'm ocd, but reading this I'm totaly normal!

john70t 04-09-2016 06:27 AM

Snickers has to be frozen: Sides, bottom, nuget, top(don't know why this is out of order), peanut caramel last.

gizmofixer 04-09-2016 06:48 AM

Haven't seen anyone mention keys yet.......
All my keys must be on the keyring with the cut edges the same direction,
and they must be sorted large to small.

Being normal OCD, I just have to ask....
Where is the starting point on the key RING :D?

john70t 04-09-2016 06:54 AM

My house key has a ring.
It is the first on the bunch when pulled up by the swiss army knife.

scottmandue 04-09-2016 07:07 AM

Fhap, fhap, fhap...

Just checked mine. The cuts are not all the same way and they are not sorted in any manner.

I guess I'm not that OCD after all.
