What's the thing you do that no one notices, but you always do it anyway?

There's lots of proud craftsmen and women on this board.

What kind of unnecessary obsessions do you fellas feel obliged to obey?

I do a cleanup thing with my photoshop masks at work that literally no one will or would ever notice or care, and it matters not a whit that I do it, but it's just a little housecleaning for my files and I'm compulsive about it:

What I'm talking about is making a selection of the final clipping path, spreading the selection 2 pixels, inverting and then cleaning up all my working masks with 100% black, feathered .3 pixels. I've even got an action set up to make it happen with one push of a button!

Since the files are ultimately flattened and the clipping path will dictate the edge of the image, it is just a waste of time, but my working layers are nice and tidy!

And it makes me happy. SmileWavy

I fart when exiting a crowded elevator.

Seriously though, all the screws in my light switches and outlets are perfectly horizontal.

I face all the cat food cans perfectly forward. Ziggy & Baby haven't even noticed :(

My pool is clean

I put Brad Penn in my garden tractor.

I point the Porsche Crest on my center caps towards the valve stem.

This is why everything I do takes twice as long as it should. I'm always thinking about the guy 20-30 years from now looking at something I've done. I live with creating this invisible legacy of people who don't know me saying, "This guy really cared about his work." I always do my best. It has been my curse.

Oh Haha 04-06-2016 05:25 PM

Yep, I did the crest bit with my wheels too.

The HVAC vents in my vehicles have to be horizontal. The screws for my outlets have to match when there are 2. 1 doesn't matter but it has to vertical or horizontal.

The cymbal holding screws on my drumkit have to all be oriented the same way. The only exception is the one that is round. The others are t-style.

Wow, I have problems!:(

I say "please" and "thank you"...

Mine have to be vertical. About 20 years ago, I changed the way the toilet paper hangs on the roll due to a girlfriend...she's long gone, but I still can't go back....it would be so wrong now :D

I'm also with stomach monkey about vertical or horizontal screws, especially on switch covers.

I don't care which way it hangs off of the roll as long as there is a tail hanging. It really pisses me off when Mrs WD rips off a wad and leaves the end stuck to the roll. I am meticulous about leaving a tail.
I want this mentioned in my eulogy.

Add one more pinch of salt, sugar, cream etc to most things I am cooking. Hard to leave well enough alone.

I correct other people's spelling when replying to a forum post or in an email.

Most of the time it's just a typo...but sometimes there's a grammar issue - either way...I can't let it go.

I sweep the driveway twice a day, keeping the asphalt at a mirror shine.
(Maybe it was from working in jungle garages without a walking path)

The bed sheets are washed at least once a year.

You only think no one notices.

When I pull up behind a motorcycle at a stop light, I angle my car and turn the wheels so if someone hits me from behind, I won't hit the guy on the scoot.

When I do surgery on someone with sketchy tissue or vascular status, the only thing that touches the skin is the scalpel and the suture or staples when I am closing.
