Anybody familiar with Cougar Cub min-boats?
These look like they would be a low cost hoot. Ten foot length catamaran boat with a 40 hp motor. Bet it makes the 40 mph top speed seem like 140!

It's basically a motorcycle for the water. Fun for about an hour.
No place for a cooler. No top to escape the hot sun. No place to stretch out/relax. And if you look at the draft (from the photo with two adults aboard) - when you kill the throttle from 40 mph and that back-wash rushes over the rear transom and floods the seating area... You will probably take it home and put it on Craigslist.

Hey Jim, that thing looks so cool sitting at the dock. But frightfully down by the stern putting along like that. Maybe that is the trim for cruising at speed.
That would be a blast to play with in the right conditions. We had a ten foot cat tender for Tevake with a 15 hp engine that would plane with four adults and surfboards. And it was sporty to play with one up. So this mini cougar, with that power and a performance hull design should scream! Cheers Richard |

Those things need a Rotax and. Pump.
Then, they'd be fun! |

How is it any different from this? Other than taking up an entire parking spot, that is?

Cougar Cub
Do not know anything about this boat, but I do have one for sale. Got it years ago at an auction and kept it in my garage all these years. Needs rebuilding but will throw in a Johnson Sea Horse 10 motor, all for $ 1000. Boat is in Ohio.

They were fun! We organized a race club in Seattle loosely around the 10' production APBA class. 10' production hulls with max 30 hp motor. I raced a Cougar Cub. With the motor jacked up and some work on the prop, was right around 50 MPH. Add a skid fin and it actually turned. We raced from the end of 1983 through 1985.

HEY, I built that Cougar Cub.... Cool to see that it is still out there, long way from Michigan. It was a simple white haul with a 25HP Merc when I started. Always wanted to add the Trim/Tilt. Would like to know if it helped get the nose down and the top end.
