1975 Datsun 260Z parts help

Need some help to find a part for a friend's 1975 Datsun 260Z. Looking for a rear License Lamp Assembly with part number 26510-N3400. The piece sits on the rear bumper and has lights toi illuminate the license plate. Unfortunately this item has been discontinued and is no longer available. My friend and I have both looked in the usual places without success.

Photos here of the part in question:

Yes, I know that I'm asking a Porsche board for help on a Datsun part but I have great faith in the Pelican braintrust.

Thanks!
Kevin

fify...

The 260 was a one year only model...1974. But there were 2 styles, small bumpers like a 240, but off the body and larger bumpers like a 280.
That rear bumper looks like a 240, but it could be a back dated 260.

Thanks for the look. My friend says the car was built Sept 1975. I don't think that the 260z was available in the US in 1975, but this car is in Germany. Not sure where it was originally sold. I'm told it is a 260 but it is clearly not a stock car at this point. Two pics:

Nice looking Z!

Is it possible to repair and re-plate the existing piece?

Look in the back of Hemmings. There are businesses that rechrome pot metal and even plastic.

That would make sense. We got the 280Z here in the US, whereas the 260z continued on in the rest of the world. That would also explain the tail lights, and the odd license plate lights. I've never seen them before. I think I'd follow the other's advice and have the piece restored.

That is a Euro market light ....try ebay overseas.
North America license plate light was attached above the plate in a plastic housing.
good luck with your search.

That's an Australian spec 260z I'd watch this place for parts. I've had maybe 40 240/260z's and have never seen that light before.

Thanks much! Tried to PM you, but your PM box is full so free up some space and I'll try again.
