Looks like I'm going to have the AH pulled out and I'll need to strip out the millboard and repair the framing and remove the concrete. Put in a plywood floor with a pan. Then reinstall the AH but make sure it is level and drains properly.

Ahhh the fun of owning a older home....SmileWavy

been grilling in my house with my Jennair indoor range. Grill is nice, but the downdraft hood sucks...big time.

So...I ran some black pipe and installed my new grill right outside my kitchen on the deck, overlooking the creek. went with an MHP....totally awesome. old school, simple quality. I've owned Webers, and I do like them...but I love the simplicity of this new grill. Lot of cool attachments are available. All made in the USA, and each part is replaceable.

Very cool Mike. Perfect style for your place too.

Embraer 04-28-2016 10:30 PM

that's why I went with that brand. MHP invented the outdoor gas grill....thought it would fit a bit better with the motif! :)

I did get some electrical wiring done.

It was nice that the plumber left me a big conduit. :p

Picked up two different exterior lights to see which I like better. One is in stock and one is back ordered. My supplier is giving me the back ordered lights for free so I'll probably like them better!

Also met with my hardwood flooring guy. Floor is out of level in a couple of places and we need to float it out. I hope that happens early next week so we can lay hardwoods, then carpet.

Landscape next week...

Couple of screen handles and a closer(nailed the adjustment perfectly, yes)
Made a nice discovery while lubing them. Cleans the chalky residue and funk and brought back the color with a soft feel.

Installed a few outlets and other small things.

Instructions: Kill power. Remove old outlets. A few were just flopping around in the box because someone never bothered to get longer screws and secure it. Clean off over-spray paint from wires. Old outlets were friction back-stabbed but new ones will have a 270-300deg connection and tight attachment. Find myself holding an empty end of a copper ground wire. Repair that and double check them all. Another ground is not even hooked up. Install new GFIs. Sweating like crazy. A finger gets hot. Oops the breaker is on. Mom decides she is going to move my ugly tools around and bring all the dishes back in the kitchen while we have a discussion about life and my bad eating habits. Ok top wires go back to top, and bottom go to bottom. Massage wires back into the box carefully. Slow 'er down.

The outlet pops.
But the tester briefly flashes correct installation.
Hmm, must be a bad outlet from the store. Reinstall with a different one.
That outlet pops also.

I finally decide to read the damn instructions.
Then I learn the difference between line and load sides of a GFI.
Remove two wires from the outlet and see which has power when breaker is on. That is the upstream line side.
It goes to the bottom of the outlet.
Just like the damn picture says.

Re-staining deck furniture. Took photos and tried to match up colors from a camera. The proper stain would have been Minwax 'gunstock', but at the last second I switched to 'red chestnut' because I was afraid the final result would be too orange. Still kicking myself. I needed an extra day of sanding but had no time and just wanted to get done.

I wanted this look:

Ill save you the pics, but I had to undermine the slab/footer and fix the poopie pipe . I've noticed some leakage over the years, but this winter, it let loose . Lots of disgusting sludge laying on the floor in our little sunken pump room under the house . I found clay pipe electrical taped to plastic pipe, that was electrical taped to iron pipe . What fun!!
I had to lay in raw sewage and shove my head up under the slab to get it all back together. It was of course right at a Y junction . I have been digging at this for the last two weekends. I was really happy to finally find the pipe and then find the leak . Glad this one is almost over
Home ownership is great fun !
Now , I get to jack the slab back up. This was repaired before, they never filled it back in, and the slab settled a few inches.
Oh, and our 275 gallon oil tank was in the way, so I had to pump it empty and move it , Of course, one of the legs snapped off. It is old and rusty any how. So now , I have to try to get a 28" 275 gallon tank out through a 30" opening , and up a flight of stairs, yaaaaaay!

Did you already buy landscape lights? If not try Volt. Their lights are the best bang for the buck. Commercial grade but half the price. VOLTŪ Landscape Lighting | LED Outdoor Lights and Bulbs

Broke one of my fountains.

Recommendations for a water proof epoxy / glue for ceramic that will support ~30 lbs?

Climbed the top step of a 10' ladder while wife held the base still and I clutched the trunk. Cut some dead branches that were laying on our roof and spoiling our view. Could have been ugly in many different ways.

I have used PC-7 epoxy many times for small table top fountains. Very similar smell/workability to JB Weld.

They also make PC-11 Marine epoxy for submerged applications.

Purchase at your local hardware. (ACE in my case)😉

What Did You Do To Your Home Today?

Continued converting a space under the house into a nicer area since we don't have a garage.......still.

Insulation, electrical, first coat of epoxy paint, sealed any openings I could find, and then spent the last couple of days sheet rocking, into it for 12 sheets 5/8" fire board( my gawd that stuff is freaking heavy). Continued on with 26 sheets is 1/2". My floor is thrashed from all the fines but I knew that would happen going into it. I think the early coating will make cleanup a little easier though.

I am making progress.

Sealed the concrete with 1-Stage garage epoxy paint. I know it will get abused finishing the room. Topcoat to follow after everything is finished and sealed up.

100 AMP sub panel added under the house.

Working on our room today. Why is it at the time, extra Sheetrock screws sounds like a good idea? Right up to the point of having to fill all of those little bastards...

http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2016...0a47e630fe.jpg

Fired the local handyman I hired to give me a hand. His claimed 40 years of rocking proved to be worth "dick". I knew nothing about rocking but enough to know when things were done wrong. Four sheets replaced and numerous incorrect cuts later, I told him to gather his tools and GTFO!

Just a few examples:

Not what I'd expect from a veteran rock guy.

By the way, it was my fault the mistakes were made, per him. I didn't pay someone to argue with.

It reminded me of the Monty Python skit where John Cleese pays to argue.

my hot water heater broke. Turned out to be the heater element. Replaced it. Thinking about going tankless, any suggestions?

Evans, Marv 06-25-2016 10:20 PM

I have two Rinnai tankless water heaters for the house. If your original water heater was electric, you might think about going with gas if you decide to go tankless. The electric ones can draw 160 amps at full tilt. There have been a couple of threads about them.

A930Rocket 06-25-2016 11:05 PM

Moved in the new house last weekend. It's all unpacked and ready to go.

Got comcast and TP holders installed today.

Cleaned bathrooms and unclog my wife's sink that was slow.
Does that count?

New block wall. New sod and got slope dialed in with some palms, birds of paradise and other plants.

One word for you, Takagi. Its the Lexus of tankless. I believe all the parts to the heater is still made in Japan. Just remember, you gotta maintain them and install a scale filter for longevity of the unit.

A930Rocket 06-26-2016 05:04 AM

Look... What does it take to maintain them and install a scale filter? I don't recall that anyone around here does either.

Yeah that counts! You should get an award for doing that. Just sayin since God only knows what that crud is that comes out of the drain. Only speaking from experience from our drain at home.

Textured with my new Home Depot texture gun, now waiting for it to dry. Not too difficult to do.

Planted seven small pines trees yesterday. I won't get much done today with mid 90 temps.

Finally installed my $100 Craigslist split AC unit.

Ice cold in my bedroom now.

Lot's of work, and not cheap to pay someone to evacuate the lines and top up the charge, but still half price....

Drank a Deschutes Brewery Black Butte Porter on my deck while looking at the river. Couldn't get my ass motivated to do ****.

Noritz IK-WV-200-1-TH-LF N/A - Build.com!

Need these valves installed but not code around here as inspectors can care less if you maintain them. These valves allow the cleaning solution to circulate the heater and block out fresh water from entering. Cleaning solution is usually vinegar or CLR. Mfgs seems to like CLR and claims they do a really good job. I use a sump pump and just recirculate CLR for 30 minutes flushing all hard water deposit from within the burner. Disconnect and turn valve to allow fresh water into the unit. Run it so it flushes out the little solution in the system. basically turn on hot water and allow it to run for 1-2 min.

Takagi recommends the igniter to be sanded with 100 grit sand paper to rid the carbon deposit. BSsically cleaning an old sparkplug.

Heater Treater is the scale filter. It will remove most scale before it has a chance to enter the unit. You can feel the difference on the hot water side. That water is not so harsh, just don't get burn trying. It is installed on the cold water supple right before it enters the unit.

Wish I was at the point where I could start painting the new drywall. Most of it is up and out of what is, most of it has the first coat of drywall mud. I really hate doing drywall...
