Street figured most likely outcome D president R house R senate, and possible but unlikely D pres R house D senate. Now Street thinks some small but non-zero chance of D pres D house D senate. Pressures certain sectors (healthcare, financials), lifts others (construction, tech).
Also earning season started off with Alcoa, as always, and Alcoa whiffed badly.

From the article:
Even with Hillary Clinton taking her biggest lead in the polls since August versus Republican Donald Trump, the relative cost of hedging a 5 percent decline in an exchange-traded fund tracking the S&P 500 is twice the cost of betting on a gain, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. High readings in the indicator known as skew came even as the CBOE Volatility Index spent the previous three weeks trading below 14, on average.

Correlation does not equal causation. Why weren't you out stocking up on aluminum foil? Alcoa needed you!

Doesn't the market always experience some jitters right before an election? I think that some corrections are coming but overall, things will be fine.
I can tell you that my personal economic indicators are doing well this week but they are tied to people working and making a lot of $$ as opposed to living off investments in a small town somewhere.

Happens at the end of every 8-year cycle. Easily predictable.
