Something you'll never see at a Porsche Parade

Can't believe the Aussies beat the USA in this grand tradition..

Know what else you'll never see at a Porsche parade?

Random cars revving and crashing into people and walls and other cars...over and over and over and over and over again...

They do burnouts at Mustang get togethers. I do not see the attraction. Seems just plain stupid to me. Not an indicator of a high SAT score.

If the EPA was pissed at VW-Porsche now, they'd send in the smog police on this one...yep, no something you'll ever see at Parade.

I will say that in 2006 when the Parade was held in Portland, Oregon, one of the off nights we went to the local drag strip. They had set aside parking for PCA. What was fun to see was the Porsche engineers from Germany who were downright tickled to see the American muscle and have they had been modified. I'm sure it tripped out the owners when these guys walked up to them with a German accent and asked why and how they made this mod....even more so when they found that they worked for Porsche...proof that cars guys are car guys.

I once asked Grady Clay where he learned so much about how engines work. He replied that he used to hang out at drag strips adding that those guys understand engines.

FWIW, I've never done a burnout in my Mustang, and I don't do cars & coffee things.
I did a bit of drag racing at the Woodburn strip during my Goat (Pontiac GTO) days.

I just found it amusing that this was in Australia, not the USA. No need to get all elite about it...

I think I saw that the next Porsche Parade has that on the schedule, unless I am mistaken, it does seems like such a good fit.

The only thing that would have made this smoky extravaganza even better would have been a nitro cacklefest further down the track AT THE SAME TIME!!!!

SMOKE AND THUNDER, BABY! IT'S THE OZZY WAY!

If I still had some sort of muscle car, I may on a rare occasion, do a burn out, but it wouldn't normally be a power brake style burnout, it would just be a smoky launch. But I can't say for sure since the last time I did a burn out was when I was about 24.

I have been known to occasionally get the rear out in a corner in the various sports cars that I've had which is really not that much different than the display.

More on topic, since Paul thought it was interesting that this burnout record was set in Australian (don't forget, they are where we got the last V-8 Elcamino and the most recent Pontiac GTO).

The largest, or maybe second largest car show in the world, mostly cool old American iron, is in Sweden.

The best part is that if you watch these with the sound off, you'd swear you were looking at videos from Alabama or someplace in the SE USA, but then listen to them speak, and you begin thinking "um bork, bork, bork"

^^^ This,

Good grief guys, EPA? IQ? Social class? Lighten up, will ya?
Not saying it's a required activity to be a car guy, but burnouts are about as "car" as it can be.
I'd wager a majority of us have caused at least a slight chirp between gears...and grinned from it.

Not that I've ever done any.
