Some help needed...

As was discussed in this thread:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/910134-time-pull-keys.html

I disabled the cars at my in-law's the other day.

Today I get an email from my brother-in-law saying he doesn't want to do that. So, he put the fuse back in his dad's Saturn (I'd sent him an email with a picture of the fuse diagram, describing which fuse I took out and where I'd stored it) and it started up fine.

He did the same thing with his mom's Lexus and says it won't start now.
Here is the diagram I sent him:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1461184559.jpg

It's the number one fuse located in the engine compartment fuse panel. I stored it in the spare space over at the right marked in red.

Anyone here know if pulling this fuse causes the computer to go into an anti-theft mode where just re-inserting the fuse will cause it not to start?

Thanks for your help. As much as I miss my dad, I'm sure glad I didn't have to go thru this with him.

No faults on the dash display?

stomachmonkey 04-20-2016 12:58 PM

Is he sure he put it in properly?

Scott Douglas 04-20-2016 01:03 PM

I really don't know, to both of those questions. I just got home from my bike ride at the beach and found his email waiting in my in box.
I can't imagine he put it in wrong, I mean the diagram is pretty clear, right?
I haven't been over to their house to try it myself so don't know what is or isn't showing on the dash. He didn't mention anything in his email about codes/lights showing.

I found this, maybe it will help:
Surry fer ther speeling:

Quote:

The car has a fuel cut off system. For u to reset it the manual says to turn the key to the acc setting n let it sit for a few seconds then turn key off then turn car on.

As for the ecu reset, disconnect the negative off the battery n let sit for like 5 to 10 min and reconnect.
Ppl also used the ecu fuse under the hood in the fuse box in front of the battery but I found the battery thing lil easier to understand.

Also have u checked to see if ur security light shuts off after u insert ur key? If it doesnt then u have a prob with ur immobilizer n prob need to reprogram it

Thanks sammy.

I'll clean up the spelling and send it to him, let him try it out.

If he's been cranking it without The fuse, he might just need to wait to build pressure, or charge up the battery....

i know that on lots of cars nowadays you have to play with the key to re-set things.
Like turn the key to acc, wait, turn it off and on three times, them back to acc, then sacrifice a chicken.

Back when I was your age all we had to do was push on a rubber bump on the floor with our foot!!!

Some cars will zap the radio when the battery is disconnected. Honda for sure.
Need a dealer code to get it to work again.

Battery Disconnect Problems
Toyota (various models) If the battery is disconnected while the key is on, it can set a fault code for the airbag system and turn on the airbag warning light (which deactivates the airbag system until the fault is cleared with a scan tool).
