Some help needed...
As was discussed in this thread:
Time to pull the keys... I disabled the cars at my in-law's the other day. Today I get an email from my brother-in-law saying he doesn't want to do that. So, he put the fuse back in his dad's Saturn (I'd sent him an email with a picture of the fuse diagram, describing which fuse I took out and where I'd stored it) and it started up fine. He did the same thing with his mom's Lexus and says it won't start now. Here is the diagram I sent him: ![]() It's the number one fuse located in the engine compartment fuse panel. I stored it in the spare space over at the right marked in red. Anyone here know if pulling this fuse causes the computer to go into an anti-theft mode where just re-inserting the fuse will cause it not to start? Thanks for your help. As much as I miss my dad, I'm sure glad I didn't have to go thru this with him.

I really don't know, to both of those questions. I just got home from my bike ride at the beach and found his email waiting in my in box.
I can't imagine he put it in wrong, I mean the diagram is pretty clear, right? I haven't been over to their house to try it myself so don't know what is or isn't showing on the dash. He didn't mention anything in his email about codes/lights showing.

If he's been cranking it without The fuse, he might just need to wait to build pressure, or charge up the battery....

i know that on lots of cars nowadays you have to play with the key to re-set things.
Like turn the key to acc, wait, turn it off and on three times, them back to acc, then sacrifice a chicken. Back when I was your age all we had to do was push on a rubber bump on the floor with our foot!!! |

Some cars will zap the radio when the battery is disconnected. Honda for sure.
Need a dealer code to get it to work again. more:Tool I want...but don't know the name? - The Garage Journal Board Battery Disconnect Problems Toyota (various models) If the battery is disconnected while the key is on, it can set a fault code for the airbag system and turn on the airbag warning light (which deactivates the airbag system until the fault is cleared with a scan tool).
