What would grandma's computer password be... hint: "to golf"

Bought an all in one dell computer at a garage/estate sale. Pretty sure the seller thought it was just a monitor. Got it home and found that it's password protected. The hint is "to golf."

I've tried:
swing, putt, putter teeup, drive, driver

What else would you try?

Try the names of local golf courses, clubs.

Teetime
foursome
bestball
eagle
ace
holeinone

I'm still leaning towards some derivation of "hack"....

Used to describe golfers and breaking into computers...

Duffer, not to be confused with Livi who's a fluffer! :D

I concur. Great suggestion.

You'll want to wipe the hard drive anyway... no telling what may be lurking in there.

If you *really* need to get in there - ie, it was your grandma and her will is on there, family pics, etc. you can reset the password using the NTPasswd disk - NTPasswd — Reset Windows Administrator Password

The key is "To" as in "To Golf". My guess is it's a street name on the way to her golf club.

Did you try "to golf"?

I have known people to use their password as the 'hint'.

This.

Or complete the phrase, love to golf, like to golf, I love to golf, hate to golf etc...

Ask the seller.

Good one.

Something like 'Hey, you know that PC you sold me for cheap because you didn't realize it was a PC? Yeah, well I want to see if you have anything on there I can use so could you give me the password?'

How much does it cost to ask? He could always assume the worst.

Why on earth would you want to get into a stranger's computer?

Try "love"

GH85Carrera 04-29-2016 07:59 AM

How about:

ball
cart
tee
green
drive
putt

I do not have a guess to add but it amazes me that anyone would sell a computer at a garage sale or anywhere else without removing the hard drive. In this age of identity theft I would never leave even the slightest chance of someone accessing my personal info for a few bucks. I bet when you do get in there is tons of personal info on there.
