Blue Jeans

I wish that I could find a company that makes blue jeans that when you buy 2 pair of the same size they both fit exactly the same. I'm not a fancy blue jean wearer but don't do the Walmart jeans either. I have 2 pairs of Levis'. same size (per the tags) bought at the same time and they aren't even close to being the same. One pair has pockets that are 4 inches deep and the other pair are just right. The other pair have a crotch that's too short . Any suggestions or experiences out there??

Are you buying your jeans in a "second" store like Nordstrom Rack, Ross, etc?

If so, that could be contributing to your issue.

I hear ya! I bought some pants at Eddie Bauer and tried one pair on and it fit great, so I bought two pairs of the same exact size, and i can't even get the other ones to zip up. So frustrating. Jeans are the same. You simply have to ignore the sizing labels and buy whatever fits.

I totally agree. My favourite pair of jeans is Levis 511 size 36 x 32. You think it would be easy to find another favourite pair?...I tried on 11 different pairs - supposedly same style and size but not even close.

I understand production tolerances may be present but geez these things are made all over the world - in that 11 pairs there was Cambodia, Columbia, Brazil, Thailand...

That's why ordering Jeans on-line is such a lottery...

LL Bean jeans have worked well for me, and I order them online with confidence. Never an issue.

I collect denim jeans. I have roughly 150 pairs from dozens of manufactueres many of them are premium brands.

Generally American, Italian, Japanese and Hong Kong made are the best quality. Japanese denim is considered to be the best quality material as they back in the 1960's bought America's used denim looms when American mills bought new looms. Thus the Japanese are making vintage quality denim and that is one reason why American vintage denim jeans are so pricey.

Pricing on jeans can be a very modest $15 to 250k but those are couture encrusted with precious stones. Generally just over a $1000 is the upper end. Quality does cost as good material, fit and finish adds cost.
Here one thing to note is that the better brands use Selvedge material in their construction

Some of the top brands i am familar with. are the Japanese Evisu, RMC, PRPS, Zegna, Diesel, Armani, Burberry, Ralph Lauren, True Religion, 7 into Mankind, Citizens for Humanity, Affliction, Boss, Riv de Cru, American made Lucky, Antik, Mek..

Some other brands that I like are Buffalo, PEPE, Coogi, Girbaud, Laguna Beach, Angelino, Artful Dodger, LRG, Quick Silver, Carhartt, Daniel Crieumex, American made vtg Levi, Black Label, Joes.

After reading about jeans mfg I consider Evisu, RMC and Zegna to be exceptional. Especially made in Japan Evisu with their use of Japanese denim, their fit, finish, and adherence to traditional styling.

I have several pairs of Wrangler loose fit, boot cut jeans and they all fit the same, feel the same and look the same. Unlike TABS, who wears Couture jeans to be seen, I wear jeans to keep the mud, horse crap, and grease off of my legs.

Wrangler jeans are generally about $20 at the local big box store, and seem to last alot longer than any other brand I have tried. Most people aren't as hard on thier pants as I am....cutting firewood, fixing cars, digging trenches, landscaping, and occasionally welding, so I don't buy expensive designer clothes.

I always thought that this was a "women's clothing" problem... Looks like we are all in the same situation. It is so frustrating to buy the same brand and same size only to find wildly different fit. You can even go to one store and try on a couple of pairs in the same cut and size only to find that even those are different...

I absolutely hate buying clothes. Seriously hate it.

(except for shoes - I really like buying those).

What Gogar said. If you buy seconds or "outlet" levis, then that could be the problem. If you bought different models ie 506, 501, 505, 510, 565, etc...., then they all fit differently and you have to try them on. If you aren't buying seconds, and you get the same model, they should all fit the same.

All the old geezers like me remember wearing a pair of jeans for years before they wore out. Now they are designed to rip and the blue die just washes out and fades in no time. I learned log ago to try on each and every pair I buy. I go to the store and usually try on 5 pair of the same size and two will be the right size. Fortunately, I get to wear Land's End brand of shorts all summer even at work so my Jeans are for winter time only.

I hate buying clothes with a passion. Shoes are even worse. For years I could just order another pair of the same walking shoes. As usual, that don't make them anymore. Now I have to order a second choice level walking shoe. I have not bought a pair of shoes in a shoe store since I bought the shoes I wore at my wedding 24 years ago.

measure both yourself and the jeans
just because the label said 32x30 don't mean it is that size or even close
to flatter fat americans sizing creeps up and can vary a couple of inches
but allways over size seldom under
plus some styles are different in the cut/fit
and prewashed jeans do not shrink much
I try to crude measure pants before trying them on
by hold them from seam to seam against the pants I am wearing
you will see a 32 is a rare find that is actually 32'' more likely a 33 34 or 35

anybody paying a grand for jeans is nuts
and $100 jeans are not my fashion statement
good old levi's are fine for me

I'm too lazy to google this but pretty sure Levis farms out there work now (China?).
I have a few pairs of Levis for my old construction worker days that are 30-40 year old and still going strong. Ironically those old Levis have very few rips in them (like the designer jeans) but are faded and stained enough to make them look cool.

Most of my new jean purchases are wrangler, bought some Lucky jeans (at a thrift store) and they fit well but they are kinda thin and I don't expect them to be very durable.

Banana republic and Old Navy seem to have some nice jeans.

Absolutely, even as kids, most of the time they'd still be fine when you outgrew them unless you'd moved into the phase of wearing out the knees.

I remember hating new jeans because you could stand the darn things up and they were so stiff that they'd stay that way. Eventually, they'd soften up and get their "patina".
