Can you ID this tool?

Customer showing this to me this morning. I have no idea what it is.

The holes are smooth and there are no markings on it anywhere.

Any ideas?

TIA!

Some kind of pipe bender?

MRM 05-05-2016 11:23 AM

That's part of a tap and die set, isn't it?

Nope. Has no clamp,fastener,or threading.

sammyg2 05-05-2016 11:40 AM

part of a tubing flaring tool.

wdfifteen 05-05-2016 11:45 AM

It's a Japanese condom installation tool.

Steve Carlton 05-05-2016 11:55 AM

Certainly not a great tool.

It's not split - how would you remove the tube with 2 flared ends?

Dowel Plate

Baz 05-05-2016 12:54 PM

Doesn't look like the dowel plates I Googled, Scott.

I sent the pics to my older brother in VA who is a machinist and fabricator and he didn't have a guess....especially with no markings on it nor any fasteners or threads.

I don't feel so bad - I thought I should have known what it was....weird....

Palum6o 05-05-2016 01:15 PM

Looks like an old school heavy gauge cable twister. Probably left behind by the power company.

Dowel die for drawing round wood dowels out of square stock?

The sizing and order of the holes is odd. Maybe there's a part missing?

on2wheels52 05-05-2016 01:59 PM

Are the holes drill bit sized? Letter or number?

High School shop project to show using the forge and drill press.

herr_oberst 05-05-2016 04:28 PM

Probably a dowel plate. Here's a homemade one, and a little writeup:

I'm pretty sure it's a one size fits all nipple twister.

E38Driver 05-05-2016 05:06 PM

I think it's a dickfer. ;-)
