Waiting
My capacity for waiting is limited.....but I must change.
After a 4 year hiatus from AX, participation in event shows that the Miata is fine as frog hair, but the driver needs serious sorting. Sure, I booted personal prep thinking that 15 years of butt time would carry me through.....WRONG!!! I stunk up the joint. The car could loose some weight, get fatter(& better) tires.......but WTF for when ya can't drive? I never was a very good driver, but Gawd! It seems to me that I'm gonna suck for a whole season....Waiting to see how it shakes out........

If I remember it was never about winning for you. You like to improve the car and therefore make yourself a better driver. Go back to having fun.

Now it's about just being a competent driver with no co-driver and having fun. For now I'm batting zero.....yes, it's that bad. I'll keep plugging away at it.....the car is pretty damn good. I got little snippets of that.

If you do SCCA autocross, you can sign up for Evo School, and get some autocross instruction. It is good overall, because you keep running the course and figuring things out. SCCA also has test and tune days, where you just get in line and run the course.
FWIW, most Miatas do need a little tweaking to run a course. |

JP,
It was great to see you out and driving. I think you just need to get your sea legs back. Just keep coming back. I think it will come back for you. See you May 22nd.

I know what you mean. I was a local champion back when stockish Speedsters were competitive. Now I'm intimidated by doing AX in my stock Carrera. Challenging myself in DEs is more rewarding.

I'll be there on the 22nd, Harry. I'm already signed up.
I may have mentioned that I am about 7-8 months from a stroke. I'd like to consider DE but first I have to learn to drive. The last PO of the car set it up as a track rat. It's not far from that now......I raised the ride height from 3.5 ( at the K member) to just short of 5in. Other than a new alignment, that's it. I need to regain some confidence in my driving before I put others at risk. AX is safer for all. I'll keep my progress up-dated here.....the good, the bad ,& the ugly
