Neat article. I have an 82 vetted that I bought when I was 17, almost 25 years ago...

The car in the photo looks more like a 78-79 car. It has the pre 80 bumpers. These cars were complete crap. It is not surprising that Transams have eclipsed them interns of collector value.

I remember riding in the back of a factory turbo z 28. It must have been 1980, or 81. I think it was called the ultra z . My dad was going to buy one . It had this really simply light bar boost gauge in the little storage area in front of the shifter . I think it went from green to red at full boost .

Probably grew from the same program as this one . Was pretty high tech for an american car at the time. I bet it had horrible lag. Agree that the cars were complete crap. I dreamed for years and years about owning one, when I finally got one, it was very dissapointing. I think that is what led me into the german stuff .

I had a 81 Bandit Trans Am with the Pontiac 301 V8 and factory turbocharger. and 4wheel discs. It was slow to put it kindly but even back then the black and gold Bandit has some real cache.

I eventually had enough and built a 67 Ram Air 400 with an honest 400HP and that woke that car up big time.

I recently did a mechanical restoration on a C3. It is amazing these cars were sold new.
