Wheeler Dealer Show tonight 9pm EST on Velocity BMW M5

Just a heads up with an interesting car tonight for those that follow the show. Can Ed China's hair get any messier?

Alternator bearings, hood respray and overall buff, upper front bushings, angel eye upgrade, wheels repainted darker metallic gray. Sold it for the 6500 ask.

I want an E39 M5 so bad...that episode did nothing but make that desire much higher. Thoughts of "see, I could do all the work myself no problem!" start popping in my head.

Love the show

They have slowly evolved to a much simpler fix of much more desirable cars.......

Just do a little reading on their repair and maintenance cost. That's all it takes to scare me back to sanity, though I still consider it.

That's cheap for an M5.. How many miles and how rough was it?

It really wasn't that bad. The paint and wheels looked a bit tired, but they both came out really well. I don't recall the mileage.

The cars they sell always seem "cheap" if you just go off the number. Must be the currency difference. Then again it IS television... no guarantee that's the actual price.

I have never heard them say mileage on any of the cars they do.....I assume they are buying these cars cheap due to high miles

I test drove a few e39 M5's before . The first one was similar to the condition they showed in the episode. Took it on a test drive with the private party seller who didn't know much about cars. I noticed going up hills that the tach would start climbing even though I wasn't giving it any more gas. The clutch was toast. Had to break it to him and he thought I didn't know what I was talking about. I drove another one that was very nice and a great car. I'm very surprised they didn't need to put a clutch in the wheeler car. From what I've seen and heard, they need to be done almost as often as the brakes in cars that are driven hard. Hard not to do in this car.

I try to catch the show, usually pretty entertaining. m5 was cool but as mentioned above the recent episodes are more spit and polish compared to the earlier versions. I might be in a minority but I prefer seeing them dig into something, especially the cars we dont see here. I guess I just like to see how things work.

If you like the M5 make sure you drive a 540 sport. Sure, not the same, but pretty darn impressive for a simpler/cheaper car.

One thing I don't understand (I know it's "TV") they tell you cost of car and parts cost at the end of show but never labor cost?

Profit they make is often VERY low....Ed can't be doing all this work for nothing?

This, to me, is the flaw in the show.
There are very few ordinary punters with the garage, tools, and skills, of Ed.
If the labour costs were included, the project certainly wouldn't make a profit.
This means that the title of the show is a misnomer. 'still watch it though ...

A crackin' good show. My take away is that a DIY guy spend a little money and create something nice. However, this isn't a way to make a living.
