![]() Brakes sourced from our friends in North Carolinee. Because, Murica! ![]() Air jack in front. Quite light. ![]() ![]() Cage welded to A pillar. I believe entire cage was welded up before roof was added.

![]() ![]() Six speed PDK instead of manual to allow left foot braking. Also cheaper than a cup car sequential. Knob with yellow background is for adjusting ABS intervention level.

Every once in a while you're reminded of why you were attracted to a thing in the first place.

Kind of like the GT1 that someone converted to street-legal!

^^^This! The "regular" GT4 is one of the only new cars I lust after! But this thing looks like quite an animal!

Raw and ready. Like.
If I had to nit pick, the toothpaste welds on the cage likely are fine but appear done by a first year apprentice welder.

Stupid question....
Can anyone actually just buy one of those? I thought they were all sold and those that were able to get their hands on one had to commit to run it in the GT4 "series" for 2 years... Did I just make that up? (quite possible).

I was lucky enough to drive a "regular" GT4 about two weeks ago. The owner keeps his cars at my uncle-in-law's warehouse (where he houses everything from 1932 Ford V8s to Acura NSXs to his large collection of muscle cars). The owner plans on using the car only on the track, but wants to put 1000 miles on the engine first.
It was an interesting experience -- it was very much like driving my tweaked Cayman S, but... MORE. The car only had 400 miles on it, so I couldn't bring it over 5000 rpm, but based on how strongly it pulled at mid-range, I have no doubt that it screams at 7000rpm. In terms of the road manners, it was a dream. The steering was super tight; it felt remarkably planted and confidence-inspiring without the ride being punishing. Although it didn't pull that much stronger from 2000 to 5000 rpm than my car (I am sure that it would leave mine for dead if it had the whole rev range to play with, though), the road manners were the most impressive aspect -- it felt much more confident through turns than my 987S, and the ride was no worse. As an aside, it was such a Porsche-full day that my mother-in-law ended up buying that Boxster S, which was up for sale, the very next day! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Welds are multi-pass and look like the typical German technique going back as far as Tiger tanks. I'm sure they're sufficient enough to pass FIA standard.
Can't buy these through a dealer. Have to go through Porsche Motorsports.

I am involved in a few different motorsports (rally, Ultra4, road) and I don't know any cage builders that multipass .095 tubing. |

I don't think it's to much to assume the guy welding this up had a few coupons intentionally broken to check penetration. Porsche is strict about certification and testing of almost every area. I also think we've gotten used to seeing welds from robots. Very consistent those.
