Good Western Food In Singapore
Son and fiance are in Singapore at the moment and want to know if there's any good steakhouses (red meat not fish) around? They are staying on Orchard Rd.

#year old info , fwiw; the best australian produce i've seen for a very long time was out front of greengrocers there; our meat and kiwi dairy will be available too, at a price
there was Fern & Kiwi at the entrance to the Clarke Quay precinct that if still there would surely cater to your tourists, but for mine - why travel if not to eat locally? (everything is fantastic but on Orchard, opp. Central, Peranakan Place was good, Newton Circus (?IIRC) is where the once-were-hawkers are housed and thriving, Little India was kinda depressing but the Arab Qtr, esp. Haji and Bali Lanes, were cooler than Melbourne (wink) Last edited by fnqvmuch; 06-05-2016 at 03:52 PM.. |

Personally, I travel to see the world and to do adventurous things I can't do at home. I'm not a foodie, so I could not care less what the locals eat.
For example, I ate a lot of $2 pizzas in Queenstown NZ last year (ok, I did eat some fish and chips too), but I was willing to splurge on helicopter trips and paragliding and stuff. |

There is a hard rock cafe at the far west end of orchard rd. about a mile east there is Lawrys prime rib. there is Astons on Orchard link. I will be there in August for a couple of weeks for work. I usually stay at the Orchard Hilton and have never had any trouble finding western food. If they are up for an adventure, they should try one of the underground food courts. there is a huge one under the ION at scotts rd. their hotel concierge can tell them the best places though.

Coincidentally, the best airline meal I've ever had was a steak on Singapore airlines ..

Les Bouchon, Burnt Ends, Skirt et. al. there's even a Ruth Chris's (which I wouldn't recommend).

It has been a very loooooong time since I was there and from what I remember the Raffles Hotel is a place where you have to visit and also eat. I looked for some Kobe steak places and according to Google there are a couple so I would say to do a search and pick one since a Kobe steak is a once in a life time meal.

Not if your allergic to seafood like my son. Doesn't matter what he eats. Fish, crab, lobster etc. He really likes it but pays for it big time after about an hour or two. It comes back up the same way it went down.

Singapore (where I have spent maybe 3 or 4 months total since 2010 and where I would travel often when I lived in KL) should have tons of western food. The beef you get there will be primarily australian, same with the milk. Go check out the quays and you will have many options. That being said, I am with stuartj here... this is one of the best food cities period, and he will have a ton of food options that do not involve shellfish or western cuisine. Go to literally any hawker center and you will have many options, both western and "local" aka chinese, malay and indian food. Go on a hunt for the best chicken rice, or eat some satay, or whatever. Singapore is the disney world of asia, nearly everyone will speak english and nearly everyone will be familiar with food allergies.
