Good Karma. Anybody Else Witness Good Karma?

We all have bad Karma stories from being witness to idiots, but has anybody had a good karma incident. Let's hear them. I just had a great one...

...I stopped by Ralph's grocery store today to pick up toothpaste, a shallot, and some watermelon. In line in front of me was a girl about 10 years old, maybe carrying just a little too much of her baby fat. She was all by herself and buying a single peach. It came to $0.72 cents. She was pulling coins (mostly pennies) from a little coin purse when I told the cashier to just ring it up with my items. I handed her the peach. I told her it was my gift for her choosing such a healthy snack. She said "Thank you" with a big smile while putting the coins back in her pouch. About that time the cashier asked for my Ralph's club card, but I don't have one. The lady in line behind me offered and swiped hers for me. Guess how much her Ralph's club card discounted my bill. EXACTLY $0.72 cents. All four of us started laughing, even the little girl. That's karma.

Mine happened at the grocery store too.

I was a couple deep in line when a slightly mentally handicapped boy in his teens was buying a slim jim and Gatorade. He put his change on the conveyor belt. Before anyone could do anything nearly 2 dollars of penny's, dimes, and nickles went into the depths of the machine. After fishing out all the money the young woman at the register found the kid was short, not by a lot but she reached into her own pocket and pulled out enough to cover the rest of the tab.

I don't know if intervening in Karma counts for this thread, but I intervened and made sure Karma did it's thing that day.

i barely remember it, because i'm such a negative person. about a month ago.

i was in line at Target. i dropped my wife off at Trader Joes to handle the food stuff. the lady in front of me had a pile of stuff. she was paying with a gift card. her and the cashier started playing "gift card chicken". this is where they add an item and the cashier says, "you now have $x.xx left". this went on and on.

they both kept apologizing to me.

well, naturally, they get to a point where there is a negative deficit. they start removing items..she was about $2 bucks short..

i dont know if i was eye rolling or not, but i stopped them and said i would cover it. i honestly did it to get the entire scenario behind me. she thanked me and left. i get up there and buy all my crappy target apartment accoutrements..soap dishes, sponges, toilet brush..etc. the guy ringing me up, opens up a drawer and clicks a barcode taped to the bottom. BOOM! 20% off! just like that. i made money!!

i was more surprised that the target cashier had a cheat code for 20% at the ready..at all times. it was cool.

I witness people being kind, decent, and giving a whole lot more often than people acting like buttfaces.

This doesn't apply to the internet or to traffic

I also forget almost all of the good kharma stories, just fond memories at our pumpkin patch. One does stand out though. During November, we put on a Christmas tree lot. A lady comes by and donates a beautiful 10' tree. I promise to find a worthy family. We move it inside, and keep it watered all month long. A few days before Christmas, after receiving numerous offers to sell it, a Ukrainan family is on the rides, and the daughter starts to ask about our prices. I ask "is that your mom out there?". She says yes. I say "is that your dad and little brother out there"? She say "yes". I say "I have your tree". They immigrated to the United States to find a better life. They make a living painting church ceilings. I mean, full on Michaelangelo Sistine Chapel type scenes with angels, Jesus, etc. Unbelievable talent. They kept that tree until the following year. They called it the Miracle Tree. I ran into them later and they still remembered me that Summer. They said they'd paint some stuff for my Arco AM/PM store when we get it built and open for business.

Still waiting for my karma, but didn't really do it for the karma.

Was driving on a suburb type road, not too much traffic. Some little kids ball from the court starts rolling down the street as I make my left from my survey. Cars whizzing by. The kid is just looking at his ball literally in horror!

My brother and I were just heading out to get some beer, and we say to each other, yup, lets grab it. We drive by the ball, hang a u-turn, and my brother does a half moving door open pick up of the ball at low speed while we pull off the side of the road. The kid had his jaw on the floor wondering wtf we were doing!

We turn around and drop off the ball and the mother, while she is getting her kid in a stroller, who looks equally confused, realized what we had done and smiled. The kid thought it was literally the coolest thing of all time. That was just a few days ago!

I was at Starbucks when this kid, no more than 10 years old was buying a drink. WTF is a kid doing buying SB? He takes coins out of his pocket to pay for it and knew it was going to be a bit short. Told the girl to just put it on my card. Kid says thanks. A couple minutes later the kid has his mother in tow and is pointing to me and I'm like "Uh oh, don't take money from strangers." Mom tells me he wanted to get her a drink, but didn't know how much it would be. She thanks me and offers to repay me. I said, "No, it was his kind gesture buying for his mom that was heartwarming." And she was a smoking hot 30 something MILF! Karma. Good thing my gf wasn't with me. lol

Recently we hired someone to make a ‘curvy’ sidewalk for us and he did a phenomenal job. I contacted him a short time later to inquire about building us a rock mailbox. He gave me a price and admitted that he had never built a ‘curvy’ sidewalk or a mailbox before… instead, he watches youtube. Well, back to the story – during this last visit he stated that he had received a ticket eight or nine years ago and never paid his fines. This had been causing him much grief but he was afraid to go because of his immigration status.

Sensing the fear he had I wanted to help… but how? I thought about this and wondered if the town where the incident occurred had an amnesty program. Rather than call, I drove an hour away to the town in question and spoke with the court clerk in person. I explained the situation and she looked into their computer system for this record and found nothing because it occurred so long ago. Next, she went through a stack of old, hard-copy tickets that existed before this town switched over computer records. There it was! Two warrants for his arrest… She looked at the amount and added the fines and it came to $531. In fact, she added these totals three times just to make sure it was correct (this is important later in the story).

She stated that he would have to be present and pay the fine. Next, I asked the question of “would he be arrested” or sent away if he appeared? She said no providing that this taken care of immediately. I knew that he did not have $531 in cash (nor did I) and asked if I could write a check for this amount? The town’s policy was ONLY cash is accepted but she asked me to raise my right hand and state an oath that the funds were indeed available. With this done, I left and called my friend and tried to explain the situation as best as I could (yes, a MAJOR language barrier existed).

He met me at McDonald’s and was extremely nervous. He handed me a piece of paper with his address so that I could tell his wife his whereabouts in the event that he was arrested. He said he had no money to pay the amount owed – I said no worries and that here is an advance of the mailbox project! I drove him to the town hall and we entered. The court clerk and I tried to explain what was happening and, after me writing the check for $531, his record was clear. The town clerk thanked me for what I had done though I thought that this was a small act of kindness – do not judge people / help them! My friend teared up once we left as this was finally behind him.

About ten days later I received a letter in the mail from the town hall of this small city in Alabama. Inside the envelope was a check for $333 from the city and a hand-written note from the clerk. I teared up when I read this note and immediately showed my wife what I had in my hands. This is Karma!!!

Using Google Translator, I contacted my friend and excitedly shared the story of the check and the note from the town clerk.

My son was a counselor/camp leader for special needs kids for the past eight summers.

One of his camp kids is graduating from high-school this year, and wants to go to her prom, but has to be chaperoned. The girls mother asked my son to be her 'escort' so the girl would not feel awkward chaperoned by her mother. She said she would pay him if that helped.

My son is delaying his holiday cottage weekend and taking the girl to her prom (for free).

As payment for being a good kid I have 'secured' a nice convertible for my son to take to prom and keep for the weekend.

I have a friend from my school days, who went to London UK in the early 1970s and got a job there working for a snobby stockbroker. He had previous experience working in a stockbrokers office in Australia.

There was a younger junior office boy (also from Australia) who started in the office, but the English middle-managers were going out of their way to give that kid a hard time, with incomplete work instructions and generally bully/humiliate him. My friend thought this was very unfair & sort of took this kid 'under his wing' and discretely explained what those tasks required and how to do them.

This went on for about a year, until my friend went off to the US to find his fortune in SF. Unfortunately this didnt work out for my friend and, 30 years later he returned to Australia - broke - to live with his elderly parents.

A few moths later he was in the City, just walking down the street and a prosperous looking businessman stopped him and started talking with him. It was this 'kid' from 30 years ago in London who my friend had completely forgotten. The kid had stayed in stockbroking and now owned a very successful business in Australia. Long story short, my friend got a good job and a fresh start in that guys firm.

This 2nd chance my friend got was not wasted and he worked his way upwards until he recently retired - very comfortably (with a much better 911 than I have!!!).

As you can imagine, my friend is a great advocate of 'Good' Karma.

WOW!!

i have a new one.

i just sold a house. i fixed a bunch of stuff, i didnt need to. i sent cleaners in twice to leave the new owners the best possible product.

now i am buying. the PO is amazing. i met her. she disclosed that she "patched" some of her flooring to fix some damage. my RE suggested we go and look..despite the fact that we have lifted ALL inspection contingencies. the ladies idea of a patch was to pull up the living room flooring and redo it.

the lady is so nice. she is leaving wall decorations and things. i cant wait. i wish her the same treatment at her next home. praying for it.

i had to stop her from trying to fix some tiny dry rot. i'm planning on pulling the doors and removing the trim anyways.

That's the employee discount code. Kid who lives with me had a short-lived job there.

My Good Karma Story Well when I was about 10 years old living in Spain, after having to leave my country because of political reasons, well back then the country school house taught all grades from 1 grade high school, well being a outsider the older boys would always pick on me & my Brother, teacher would let us out a little early & tell us go strait home, well one time that dint happen one of older school mates threw a rock hit my brother in the eye ,well my brother almost lost his eye, well I new who the boy was and that he would pass by the front of my grandmothers house after school,so the next day I played sick and stayed home, sure enough there he came,my grandmothers house had a big rock wall all around the property,so when the culprit came I came out from behind the wall broke his head with a rock.needless to say kids parents came complain,I remember my father saying to the parents look what you're son has done to my boy they bowed their heads walked out.Heres the kicker 30 years later I go back to visit my family in Spain,Iam at one of the country fairs they have all over Spain and a priest that I have never seen ,I thought in life comes and introduced him self tells me he wants to thank me because I had changed his life, and I asked how father I don't even know you?well son how's you're brother?well he's ok but why do you ask?He said well Iam the one threw the rock hit you're brother in the eye,and you broke my head with that rock and want thank you because you turned my life around,I was speechless to say the least,he asked how my brothers eye was told him he doesn't see that well from that eye,he was very sorry for what he did,we went on drank a bunch of wine and ate all kinds of good foods became friends to this day, told my brother the story when I came back the states only thing he could say was no ****! True Story!
