Dude, you're in an RV. You bring the campground with you.

DO NOT go during Sturgis. It is a HUGE event and Devils Tower is an easy ride from there. It will be packed packed packed. As well as every other place around there.

That being said, Devils tower is truly amazing. I went there last year the week before Sturgis and it was fine. It is an amazing sight, and so very big. I had no idea. Mt Rushmore is a must see, just because its so close. But it was sort of a let down in my book, after seeing the Tower.

It's the only week that my wife was off, my son was out of school, and I also have available. I'm going to start looking South I think.

I agree even if you find a campground during the weekend bookends of Sturgis you may not have a whole lot of fun, especially if you want a family kind of vibe, or reasonable traffic.

Sturgis this year is August 8-16... you should be fine.
