From what Ive read so far this was an attack on the LEOs monitoring the protest march. This stuff is just out of control.

My local news just reported 11 shot, of which 4 died. All from a sniper or snipers. WTF is this world coming to?

I was watching it early on when the news first broke on FOX. There was a camera man walking through the area were 3 or 4 cops were down. It looked very serious & they haven't shown that footage again. This appears to be a coordinated attack.

Yep. The most recent reporting is that the shooters were in different locations and were triangulated for shooting the police from two different angles. Sounds planned by people who know what they are doing.

Video from a cellphone a few stories up of an officer being shot at point blank range by a shooter at street level... I was watching TV when this aired... I don't know when this occurred in the overall timeline.

This is a desperate situation, I cannot possibly see how it can ever be rectified. A large factor in the problem is the American media seem to manage a continual campaign of fear, panic and hysteria.

I would say just the opposite. We have become so PC that we cannot talk about sensitive issues and differences elsewhere without condemnation and having our lives destroyed by those who disagree.

You don't see PARFers out shooting folks, it is mostly whiney crazies who would prefer to silence discussion. Folks who believe that free speech and discussing differences in opinion is a shining example of how ****ed the good old USA has become...

I agree fully, what on earth was he thinking? He's lucky not to have been shot in the confusion. For however many minutes, they might as well have been in Mogidishu during Blackhawk down. What's the difference?

The whole open carry in public by civilians thing is just a head-scratcher for me. Just because you might have a legal right to do it doesn't make it anything but incredibly freaking stupid.

That man will spend a good long time thinking about that decision, how it seemed liked a good idea at the time and how quickly good ideas become REALLY bad ideas...

However, there is/was an increasingly common theme of carrying long arms to protests here in Texas over the past 2 years or so, by all sorts of groups protesting all sorts of things.

Most recent update:

All shooting was done by one suspect, the one captured on the video from the hotel across the street. He was cornered by police where he made statements about wanting to kill white people, especially police, and was motivated by the recent police shootings. He had an explosive device with him and the police chose to detonate it rather than risk the safety of the public. Suspect was killed in the explosion.

If the above is correct, it's another example of what damage one individual can do. Up til this report, it was believe multiple shooters were involved, all shooting from elevated positions. None of that early speculation turned out to be correct, apparently.

Three other suspects in custody, so this story has more to it.

The picture that was circulated with him in camo was not from yesterdays event.

It was from a prior open carry rally that he attended.

Still, he most certainly is rethinking yesterdays decision to carry at the event.

Wait, was the man shown in the footage above the single shooter then? He went from an elevated secure location, to street level in the thick of it, back to some elevated location? Did he leave his equipment there in the garage the whole time?

I know that *you* don't have answers of course, but those would be the first questions I have when it went from multiple shooters to a single shooter. I don't have news footage here, I figure some of you will hear updates on this.
