I could see these being great in Europe where space is at a premium in the old cities. Neat youtube video shows the idea in action. Whatcha think of these boots?

Old idea. We've been using these on robots, and commercially available for forklifts, etc. for years.

Great for a clown car, but the compromises required are so extreme that it will never be practical.

Tied to a computer and AWD this could be handy on icy roads.

Setup on this car has an incredible 24,000 pounds of torque directly on the tires!

It’s a very cool system that would make parallel parking easy and might be beneficial in other situations a well. It can turn on a dime, though those skinny tires with little contact area are likely to be a nightmare in terms of grip at speeds or in corners.
