The Pantheon of Cheap Porsches

Ignoring the rear engine cars, what's the order of desirability, fun factor, reliability for the front engine cars?

924, 944, S cars, 968, and Turbos...maybe the Boxter even slips in here, they are available at $5kish now?

I'm still looking for daily driver I can run into the ground with a clear conscience.

I've had them all, and honestly , for daily driver, I have really , really grown to like our boxster . The whole family would agree. 968, then s2 would be my next pics out of your list

The older, the worse the condition of the rubber and plastic bits. Go with the Boxster!!!

968 is the sweetest of the group but they are going up in price. 944S is cool. Just be mindful that there are extra costs like timing belt and water pump replacement. Also, cost of replacing the rear glass will choke an elephant.

Honestly the Boxster is probably cheaper than a nice 951 or 968 now. 928s aren't cheap either, especially a nice S4. Frankly the Boxster is also probably the best disposable driver. Cheap to buy, reliable, easy to find parts, good HVAC, good standard equipment, excellent MPG, and huge fun to drive. I love mine and think they are the best used Porsche deal going.

I've got a 944S sitting up on jack stands in a warehouse. I'm thinking of putting it back on the road again soon. Loads of fun to drive, and lots of room under the hatch for tools/parts. Was a great daily driver. Haven't found its equal yet, so I might pull the cover off, give it a new timing belt and once again use it as my daily driver.

IMO cheap>Porsche is an oxymoron

Someone here had a sig "you cannot spell Porsche without poor" or something like that.

It's as well sorted as you make it. But pick a good one, it's cheaper in the long run.

I had a 944S, and a Turbo. The quality of those cars is amazing.

I had a 1980 928 and a 1986 944. Both really fun cars. The 928 was a great car for road trips. The 944 was a good daily driver. Wish I still had them both. I also had a 1999 Boxster that I put a new motor in (when they were still affordable). Great car but it was a Tiptronic.

I love my Boxster! Two trunks make it very practical along with being a blast to drive.

I have way less than $20k invested in my 986S, even including the upgrades. It's a fantastic car that I would drive anywhere, equally fun as my 911SC for a fraction of the value.
