I've had a compressor like that one for about 10 years with zero problems.

OK, facts needed.
a compressor like that, with a 10 ft 3/8 hose, proper 3/8 fittings and an impact wrench, what kind of torque can you reasonably expect? I know there's variables, but give me a rough idea, and ideal value if everything goes right.

My wife found a new Bostitch 6 gallon pancake for that price a few years ago. Bought it as a Christmas present for me.

Depends on the impact wrench. I had to pull the drive pulley off our lawn tractor to replace a belt and dad's impact wouldn't do it. We borrowed one from our body shop guy and it did great.

I would say not enough air to run an impact wrench, maybe a small air ratchet to unscrew the valve stem.

The biggest variable wiil be the impact wrench....my Ingersol Rand is a beast. If the compressor is putting out 90 psi, then the size of the tank won't matter much on a wrench....makes a big difference on continuous flow however. I use my small tank the most...putting down hardwood floors, the 3/8 hose was limiting the nailer from clean nails through 3/4" hickory....swapped hoses/fittings to 1/2"... problem solved.

My compressor like that will not do squat with a cheep impact gun, but with a good 1/2" IR gun it will do 300 ft. lubs easy.

that compressor will not limit the max torque of your impact wrench, but you sure wont be able to use it for very long before you have to wait for the pressure to come back up.

If you are space conscious more than budget conscious the new lithium brushless cordless impacts are pretty much as good as air.

That style compressor is best used for inflating tires and running small air powered tools that don't require high CFM input - such as small nail guns - brad/finish nailers, staplers, etc.
It won't cut it for paint spraying for certain.

HF is becoming my Craftsman replacement, now that Craftsman is all made in China. I have a lot of HF stuff that has lasted way longer than I expected.

It depends what you want a compressor for - inflating balls and bike tires or something more.

I have a Rollair "Bull" I was looking the the most capable compressor that ran on 110V. This does what I want. I can use a ratchet, die grinder or impact tools.

However, with the newer electric impact tools, I probably rethink compressor needs.

There is a HF near where I live. There are allot of day laborers that buy tools there. I have bought items there but for impact sockets, wrenches etc, I buy off eBay and look for used Snap-on/ Mac or Matco items. and yes, there sale items can be a bargain.

Which model do you have? I'm limited to 110v too and I was looking into one of these.

The biggest limiter for most air systems is not the tank or the hose but the fittings-compare a "Milton" style high flow fitting (knocked off by Harbor Freight as the "automotive" air coupeler) to the standard 3/8 fitting that most folks use-it has much greater throat area. Made a BIG difference with my impact gun. Half inch hose helps for long runs, but man its unwieldy.

I have the 2HP 8 Gallon oil fill compressor that is on sale for 99 dollars. It is one tough unit, and I use it for hours every day. It will put out a lot of air for 99 bucks, and it won't blow its seals.
