Wisdom teeth and fire ants

Had my last wisdom tooth yanked Thursday, under local mind you.

Got two fire ant bites mowing the lawn Saturday.

Which do you think hurts more?

Incredible how such a tiny seemingly insignificant creature can cause so much pain and discomfort.

I'd be willing to nuke the entire planet to eradicate those little ****ers.

I bet the fire ant bites hurt a lot more. I got my two top wisdom teeth pulled out years ago & it wasn't a big thing. My next door neighbor was a dentist. His wife destroyed her 260Z engine by driving it after the oil light lit up. He told me if I helped him put a replacement engine in, he'd pull my wisdom teeth for me. It was a good trade.

I was cutting a small pine tree with my right knee on the ground. Felt something funny on my leg and when I stood up, my leg was covered in fire ants. Started to knock them off and they seem to bite all at once.

45 ant bites was a lot of pain.

The thread title hooked me into clicking on it.

Being interested in unconventional relationships, I was soon disappointed.

The thread is about pain, not relationships. With the former I am familiar, the latter also but more painfully so.

I would have required milk of the poppy.

My Dentist, now retired, toted the rock as running back for the L.A. Rams back in the late 60's before his dental practice. The first appointment for the wisdom teeth extraction he took out the upper and lower on one side. The CRUNCH was the worst of it. Told me to come back in a week for the other side. A week later, I'm prepared. Got The Who Live at Leeds cued up on the Walkman in the middle of Magic Bus at full volume. I gave him the thumbs up. CRUNCH! CRUNCH! Didn't work.

Fire ants just suck.

I got my worst fireant bites while working on a brake job, so all of the stings got filled with brake dust and grease, and promptly got infected. Hand the size of a melon. That hurt more than my wisdom teeth...

I cannot express to people outside of Texas how much I hate those mother-humpers.

They release a pheromone and they do all bite at once

I'm trading 16 crowns for welding work and a new front end on my dentist's Ranger.

You sure it was an infection? My mother is allergic and that is what happens to her.

My "worst" memory of fire-ants was right when they reached Houston around 1970. We were playing T-ball and the kid on the pitchers mound was standing in a giant fire ant mound. All of a sudden, he runs off the field. He was covered in fire ants. All up in his shirt and uniform

Yup, you can tell it's a fire ant because within a few hours it will swell like a mother f'r and you'll get a blister that looks like a small whitehead.

If you scratch it, which is near impossible to avoid, and break it open it will ooze for hours like a tree tapped for sap.

I mean the swelling. Are you sure it was only an infection and not an allergic reaction to the fire ants?

My most recent sting was working in my parents backyard. My face brushed against some leaves and I ended up with one on my cheek.

16 crowns? Holy Moly

Fire ants are pretty bad.

Pazuzu, it was not infection that swole up your mitt, it was reaction to the venom. Next time, and there will be a next time, ice the area down and take a couple benadryl right away. It may suck slightly less, but on a scale from 1 to totally sucks, it will still pretty much suck.

Yes - your brother is right. I had lower wisdom teeth out at 40. One had to be chiseled off the jawbone & now about a third of my lower lip is numb from nerve damage.
I made sure my son got his done at 18 (I paid!!).

I haven't heard of fire ants in Australia yet - but there are plenty of other things here that will bite & kill you.
